diese review habe ich im netz gefunden:

It’s time to set all pretense aside and unabashedly gush over Rufus Wainwright. Even if you’ve been listening to his last album Poses for years, you can still find new things to love about it, and Want One is the same kind of treasure chest. The cover art, with it’s medieval imagery of Wainwright as a knight in shining armor, sets the stage for a sweeping, beautiful, somewhat theatrical album. Only this knight in shining armor isn’t out to rescue the princess, but to save the straight men who are reading fashion magazines. His sexuality may or may not be an issue, depending on your mood; regardless, every single song on here is gorgeous. From the opening humming on ‚Oh What A World,‘ this will grab you, and even though half the songs don’t sink in on first, second or even third listen, you’ll still enjoy the ride. His piano work is lovely as always, but there’s also a good deal more programming and overall experimentation than in the past, and he even tends to rock out a bit more than usual on ‚Movies Of Myself‘ and the highly orchestrated ‚Beautiful Child.‘ Whether he goes for something clever (like ‚Vibrate,‘ as in ‚My phone’s on vibrate for you‘) or something more straightforward and sweet (like the aching beauty of ‚Natasha‘) there isn’t a single misstep here. Rufus Wainwright is exceptional, the same way the young Elton John or David Bowie were exceptional, and Want One is one of the best of the year.
