pipe-bowlDen Opener von Art Blakey und den Jazz Messengers fand ich sehr ansprechend.
Ist bei der Menge an guten Blakey-Alben aus den Jahren 1958-64 (über 30!) echt nicht zwingend … aber Morgan/Mobley sind schon superb, und abgesehen von den zwei Volumen von „At the Jazz Corner of the World“ (nicht mit „Meet You At the Jazz Corner of the World“ zu verwechseln, das 1961 ebenfalls im Birdland mit der Morgan/Shorter/Timmons/Merritt-Besetzung entstand und auch zwei Volumen umfasst) ja die einzige Session dieses exakten Line-Ups … für mich also schon ein Pflichtkauf, aber die Live-Aufnahme mag ich ein gutes Stück lieber!
