The first run of music, STANDARDS VOL. 1 and 2, CHANGES, STANDARDS LIVE, and STILL LIVE is best. Rhapsodic playing by all and DeJohnette’s cymbals are „wet.“ Later DeJohnette is dry, Gary walks more, they are „trying to swing,“ it’s less groovy IMO. Still very good of course
iverson ist sehr skeptisch, was die integration bon bebop-stücken angeht. das betrifft dann auch die box. ich muss STILL LIVE mal wieder hören.
Bin bekanntlich nur auszugsweise dieser Formation nahe (bspws Standards 1 + 2), aber dort vor allem wegen dem variablen Rhythmusgeflecht von Peacock + DeJohnette ….
