soooo toll und einer der Gründe, warum ich froh bin auch dieses Jahr „neue“ Musik entdeckt zu haben. Mittlerweile müsste ich meine Jahresliste schon wieder ändern, da Grace wohl mittlerweile Top10 sein dürfte. Und sogar eine catchy Melodie für @stormy-monday (mir ist schon klar, dass du damit was Andres meinst)

Wirklich ein schöner Song, aber das ist jetzt eine eigenwillige Definition von „catchy“ Catchy nach Stormys Verständnis (mitsingbar nach dem ersten Hören) wäre „Tom Paine’s Bones„. Das ist eine Coverversion, aber es ist ja auch eine Kunst, die richtigen Songs auszuwählen, und Grace Petries Aufnahme hat Schmiss und Schwung und wird dem alten Freiheitshelden gerecht.

Ich kenne gar nicht so viele Versionen von „Tom Paine’s Bones“. Die bekannteste ist wohl von Dick Gaughan (2001) und es gibt noch eine jüngere, üppiger arrangierte von The Shee, von ihrem Debütalbum Different Season (2008). 2015 haben The Young’uns den Song a cappella gesungen, das ist auch eine gute Version. Ach ja, und 2018 wurde der Song nicht nur von Grace Petrie gecovert, sondern auch vom Trio The Trials of Cato (gut gespielt, aber nicht so gut gesungen).
