Nope, kein eigenes Label.
Jerry Wexler (Atlantic) kam nach Florence, nachdem er sich mit Jim Stewart (Stax) überworfen hatte und ein neues Studio in der Gegend um Memphis suchte (wg. des typischen regionalen Sounds). Das gab FAME den erste kommerziellen Schub. Jörg wird noch darauf eingehen: Es war Wexler, der Aretha Franklin für Aufnahme-Sessions dort hin geschickt hat. Und nachher viele andere.
