16. Spacemen 3 – Losing Touch With My Mind
Noch einmal zu Simeon Coxes Helden:
„If you can claw your way up through all the overly-dramatic personal dirty laundry connected to the band you can find the music. And once there, it’s very apparent just what a huge contribution these guys made in their day and beyond. “
„Spacemen 3 are practitioners in the fine art of repetition; instinctively drawing on the lessons of their forefathers and adding an atmosphere, a mood and a sonorous backbeat of their own… they take hold of a chord and work every last
permutation out of it before calmly working through to the next.“
…schrieb der NME anlässlich eines Konzertes anno 1986.
…und Peter Kember, der unter dem Moniker Sonic Boom 1999 mit Silver Apples das „Duet“-Mini-Album A Lake Of Teardrops aufgenommen hat, sagt selbst:
I was always particularly fond of simple music, ideally featuring a drone, or common note throughout the music. Basically, one chord best, two chords cool, three chords OK, four chords average. Much of my sound (as opposed to conceptual and songwriting involvement) in Spacemen 3 was textural. Simple drone chords of texture, slow crescendo and dynamic — being able to take one chord from the proverbial whisper to a scream.
