Den Rest muss ich nachhören. Ich hatte mir die Platte damals bei Erscheinen wegen des fantastischen Jammin‘ me (Pipe, come on!! Nur vier Sterne?) gekauft, war aber sehr enttäuscht vom Rest.

„Let me up“ ist aktuell das einzige Tom Petty-Album, welches ich nicht in physischer Form besitze. Da habe ich Spotify bemüht. „Jammin‘ me“ ist mit Abstand der beste Track des Albums. Ob es eventuell auch zu ****1/2 reicht, muss ich dann nochmal nachhören. **** ist allerdings doch auch eine gute Wertung. Ein Meisterwerk (*****) höre ich hier nicht. Man kann dem Track allerdings nicht anlasten, dass er auf einem wirklich mediokren Album gelandet ist.

Mir ist „Jammin‘ Me“ etwas zu routiniert, zu sehr „auf Nr. sicher“, auch nicht wirklich „catchy“ genug.

Da gefällt mir „It’s all work out „, mit Abstand, besser, auch „Runaway Train “ und „All mixed up / A self-made man“ sind nicht soo schlecht. Insgesamt, freilich, kein Petty-Highlight, das Album.
