Lynchmord an Laura Nelson und ihrem Sohn L. D. Nelson, 25. Mai 1911 in der Nähe von Okemah, Ofuskee County, Oklahoma – bei einer Durchsuchung der Nelson-Farm erschoss der minderjährige L. D. einen Sheriff. Ein paar Wochen später wurden sie nachts von einem Mob (zu dem möglicherweise Woody Guthries Vater gehörte) aus ihren Zellen entführt und ermordet.
