Arbeite mal wieder von daheim … und im Hintergrund läuft jetzt zum ersten Mal die neuste von Allen Lowe:
Allen Lowe Presents: In the Diaspora of the Diaspora – A Day in Brooklyn: October 18, 2015

Den Auftakt machen zwei Piano-Solos, das erste von Loren Schoenberg, das zweite von Kelly Green – letztere spielt die erste von mehreren Widmungen an Mary Lou Williams („Mary Lou Williams Variations/Variations on a Thought“). Dann folgt ein halbes Dutzend Stücke mit Lowe (as), Kirk Knuffke (t), Paul Austerlitz (cl), Lewis Porter (p), Kevin Ray (b) und Jeremy Carlstedt (d), bevor die lange „The Mary Lou Williams Disconnected Suite for 6 Instruments“ die erste, randvolle CD beschliesst (die sechs sind Lowe-as, Austerlitz-cl, Porter-p, Ava Mendoza-g, Shayna Dullberger-b und Miki Matsuki-d)
Die zweite CD öffnet mit fünf Stücken der nächsten Combo: Lowe-as, Lisa Parrott-bari, Larry Feldman-v, Mendoza-g, Ray-b, Matsuki-d. Da gibt es auch countryeske Klänge von Fiedel und Gitarre (à la Frisell). Es folgt „She Loved Him Madly/Mary Lou Williams Variation 1-3“ (Ken Peplowski-cl, Lowe-as, Ursula Oppens-p, Ray-b) sowie ein viertes Stück derselben Combo, dann nochmal eine lange Suite zum Abschluss, „The Five Stages of Grief: Meditations on Disintegration (The Specter of the Specter of Death)“ mit Randy Sanke (t), Hayes Greenfield (c-mel), Austerlitz (cl), Bobby Zankel (as), Parrott (bari), Christopher Meeder (tuba), Porter (p), Ray (b) und Lou Grassi (d).
Vom ersten Eindruck her ein weiteres tolles Ding von Lowe, sehr viel Musik (ca. 150 Minuten) aber durch die wechselnden Besetzungen und das interessante Material bleibt das schon interessant. Schade, dass es wie schon die letztjährige Albumflut ganz ohne Liner Notes daherkommt, aber man kann ja von Lowe genügend lesen, wenn man Interesse hat.
