Jazzwise-Liste Nr. 85 Komeda – Was da als Album vermerkt wurde, ist meiner Meinung nach die die Plattenfirma. Steht auf einigen meiner polnischen Platten drauf, ohne das Komeda da mitspielt oder auch nur Einfluß darauf hatte. Sicher meinen die die ASTIGMATIC. So viele Alben hat er ja nicht herausgebracht. Das meiste waren ja sowieso nur Zusammenstellungen.

Was mich bei der Soul Jazz-Liste sehr freut, ist: there are seven acknowledge wonders in the world… yooooooooooouuuuuuuu aaaare about to witness the eiiiiiight! Wundert bei der Quelle (MG) natürlich keineswegs, aber ist doch erwähnenswert! „Grits & Soul“ ist zwar ein mittelprächtiges Album, finde ich, aber wohl das einzige richtige Album (im Gegensatz zu Compilations, Singles), das in die Liste passt… im JB-Thread hab ich mich ja ausführlich geäussert.

est décerné à
TWO BASS HIT
Le jury du Prix JAZZ HOT (prix du meilleur disque de jazz, fondé en 1937) s’est réuni le 27 décembre 1948. Il était composé de MM. Henri Bernard (président), Robert Aubert, Pierre Gérardot, André Hodeir, Franck Ténot et Boris Vian.
Il s’agissait d’établir un palmarès des disques édités en France durant l’année 1948. Le jury, après avoir réparti ces disques en diverses catégories et procédé à une première élimination, a décidé à l’unanimité d’attribuer le prix à une œuvre représentant les tendances actuelles du jazz. das interessante sind solche details, threadgill, dass er steve lehman berücksichtigt hat, fruscella, dass ziemlich viel jimmy heath drin ist, unkonventionelle auswahl bei grant green oder yusef lateef… leidet mE am meisten darunter, dass man nicht weiss, was er alles kennt

.Die Auswahl ist doch ziemlich solide. Und oft ist es so, dass Musiker nicht die Zeit haben, um viel anzuhören, manches auch nicht kennen oder gar hören wollen. Da stehen viele Amerikaner in der Liste und Live-Aufnahmen wurden berücksichtigt – was mich bei einem Musiker wiederum nicht so sehr wundert. Wenn er bei Burrell, Nat Adderley, Larry Young, Johnny Griffin, Harold Land, Alan Shorter und Bobby Timmons noch um ein paar Alben ergänzt, wäre doch alles gut, nicht?

ja, das dacht ich auch, diese als kanon angelegten listen überschneiden sich immer, aber mit dieser hier kann ich mich stärker identifizieren, als mit den meisten..

.Warum auch sollen Live-Aufnahmen, gerade im Jazz, denn nicht berücksichtigt werden? Das ist eine Forumsdoktrin, die ich nie begreifen werde. Klar, wenn sie nachträglich gedoktert werden oder „nur“ die genau gleichen Arrangements präsentieren wie auf Studio-Alben mag man sie ignorieren oder für nebensächlich halten, aber das wären dann tendentiell auch Bands, die ich live nie hören wollen würde …
Egal, ein schneller Blick durch die Liste brachte bisher wenig Überraschendes zutage und streckenweise (Blakey etwa) erschien sie mir ziemlich ausufernd und etwas unwillig, sich einzuschränken (Rollins ist auch so ein Fall, ebenso Henry Threadgill, wobei mich natürlich freut, wenn der für einmal in seiner Bedeutung erfasst wird … übrigens, siehe hier ;-))
Muss ich mir mal in Ruhe anschauen, danke für den Hinweis!
Ach: was für diverse weitere Alan Shorter Alben kennst Du denn, THELONICA? Magst Du die bitte mit der Welt teilen? Ich kenne leider nur zwei (und das zweite ist – leider! – nicht gut genug für solche Bestenlisten, da stimme ich mit Heberer überein).
