Um nicht zu sagen, eines der größten Dinger aller Zeiten. Dieses Album schlägt mich auch nach 30 Jahren immer noch völlig in seinen Bann. Wie schon am ersten Tag im Sommer 1981.
Und, wenn nicht sogar das schönste, so zumindest eines der schönsten Cover aller Zeiten.

…because life is full of important things.Absolut korrekte Gesamtwertung für dieses Meisterstück. Aber warum nur gehört „All my colours“ für Dich nicht zu den perfekten Tracks auf dem Album. 7 von 12 mal Höchstwertung, aber da gerade nicht. Für mich der beste Track des Albums.

„Show Of Strength“ ist mein absoluter Lieblingssong von Echo & The Bunnymen und würde daher ***** bekommen.

Delia HardySoeben auf Platz 7 meiner All-Time-Faves aufgerückt. One hell of a ride.
Bei mir Platz 6. Und das Album übt auf mich wohl eine ähnliche Faszination aus. Meine Track by Track-Bewertung steht ja weiter oben auf der Seite und die hat auch weiterhin Gültigkeit.
Viellleicht folgt der finale Kick bei „All my colours“ ja noch. Bei mir verursacht der Track Gänsehaut. Jedesmal.

Das Album hat nicht die Düsternis von Magazin’s „Secondhand Daylight“ und nicht die Lockerheit von The Cure’s „Boy’s Don’t Cry“. Es ist für mich irgendwo perfekt in der Mitte angesiedelt.
Es hat, wie Pipe schon erwähnte, ein zeitlos schönes Cover (wie alle Cover der ersten vier Alben der Band) und es würde mich nicht wundern, wenn dieses Album zu den Favoriten von „The Edge“ zählt.
Die Anleihen bei Gang Of Four’s „Entertainment“ empfinde ich als verzeihlich.
