Mir kommen beim Hören dieser Platte immer wieder die Zeilen aus Robert Johnsons „Hell Hound on My Trail“ in den Sinn: „I got to keep movin‘ / Blues fallin‘ down like hail / And the days keeps on worryin‘ me / There’s a hellhound on my trail“. So manisch, gehetzt, obsessiv, zerrissen und fiebrig ist der Sound und die Performance von Jeffrey Lee Pierce auf „Fire of Love“, daß man das Gefühl hat, alle Höllenhunde auf einmal seien hinter ihm her.
Großartige, nicht notengetreue, aber sehr beseelte Covers von Robert Johnsons „Preachin‘ Blues (Up Jumped the Devil)“ und Tommy Johnsons „Cool Drink of Water Blues“.

Keines der mir bekannten Gun Club Alben würden ***1/2 Sterne bekommen. Ganz im Gegenteil. Ich halte das Debüt Album für ziemlich überragend.

Das sei Dir ungenommen. Drei Songs gefallen mir auch gut bis sehr gut. Damit bin ich dann aber auch gut bedient. Ich habe ja heute alle sechs Alben track-by-track besternt.
