8. Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway) *****Wunderbar stimmig (fängt schon beim Cover an). Selbst das eher durchschnittliche „All You wanna dance“ passt gut in die Gesamtheit des Albums. Ich weiß noch, damals in den 90ern als ich mit Billy anfing kosteten beim (mittlerweile nicht mehr existenten) Tonträgerhändler meines Vertrauens alle seine Alben 10 DM mehr als dieser kleine Schatz. Sein bestes Werk für mich (vor „The Nylon Curtain) und derzeit in meinen All-Time Top 20. *****

So für mich. Wenn auch sicherlich nicht gefolgt von „Nylon curtain“, da sind insbesondere „Piano man“ und „The stranger“ vor. Aber dieses Album bildet bis auf das bereits erwähnte „All you wanna do is dance“, welches sich i.m.o. auch nicht unbedingt stimmig einfügt und eben sehr durchschnittlich ist, eine wunderbare Einheit mit großen Songs.

Puh, nachdem sie hier schon vor einem Jahr öfter hoch gelobt wurde, probierte ich sie wieder ein paar Mal. Aber: Mehr als solide **** und Platz 832 ist sie mir nun doch nicht wert. Joel-intern lediglich Rang 5.

Bei mir auf Platz 3 hinter „The Stranger“ (*****) und der Live-Platte „Songs in the Attic“ (sehr gute ****1/2), die 5 der 8 Turnstiles-Songs in mehr als ebenbürtigen Versionen enthält.
