Die Formulierung „Was ich bisher davon gehört habe“ lässt darauf schließen, dass er die komplette LP nicht kennt, und das ist ein Fall, in dem das Erschließen ohne das Gesamtwerk schwierig werden kann. Aber mit Aussagen, die nicht in Listen- oder Stern-Form formuliert werden, hast du’s ja nicht so.

Nun gut, warten wir es ab. Das ist doch aber eher selten der Fall. Ich kenne aus dem Radio vom Album auch nur drei Songs, die mir gar nicht gefielen. Wahrscheinlich ist es bei mir das Genre.

Ich kenne, glaube ich, 2 Songs vom Album (eben die beiden, die auch in der Pitchfork-Liste unter dem Album zu finden sind) und außerdem noch „Section 80“, welches mich ebenfalls schon nicht wirklich umgehauen hat.
Vielen Dank für die Erläuterungen, Jan und captain. Höre gerade nochmal in „Backseat Freestyle“ rein…glaube, das wird nichts. Der Beat hört sich für mich so an, als ob jemand zum ersten mal ein Programm zum Beat erstellen benutzt und ihm nach 15 Minuten die Ideen ausgehen. Nach 2 Minuten muss ich das Lied ausmachen, weil es einfach zu monoton ist. Das dann auch noch auf Albenlänge…uff. Das Genre an sich ist bei mir jedenfalls kein Problem.
Allerdings hat es ein Album bei mir auch schwer, wenn ich schon beim Titel (hier auch die Schriftweise) mit dem Kopf schütteln muss. Auch ein Grund, warum ich niemals ein Fiona Apple-Album besitzen werde…

jimmyjazzHöre gerade nochmal in „Backseat Freestyle“ rein…glaube, das wird nichts. Der Beat hört sich für mich so an, als ob jemand zum ersten mal ein Programm zum Beat erstellen benutzt und ihm nach 15 Minuten die Ideen ausgehen.
Bei „Backseat Freestyle“ gilt ja vor allem: Laut hören. Und dann noch etwas lauter machen, hehe. Als diesen hingeschustert-Vorwurf kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Finde den Beat äußerst innovativ und ultramodern. Diese Verbindung aus den irgendwie eckigen Snare-Klängen und dem Stimmen-Sample… und wenn dann igendwie konträr zum eigentlichen Beat dieser Subbass einsetzt… ein Wahnsinn. Und darüber rappt Kendrick dann auch teilweise total eckig, echt witzig. Und, wie gesagt, zum Ende hin, wenn er über die eigentlich zulassende Pause einfach hinwegrappt… Großartig.
Aber vielleicht als Einstieg wirklich nicht geeignet. Hast du denn „Bitch, don’t kill my vibe“ gehört? Das ist doch wirklich ein smoother Track, der aber trotzdem noch einigen Anspruch bietet. Man beachte zum Beispiel, wie er zischen normalem Rap und Double-Time einfach so hin und her schlendert. Was sind denn deine Lieblings-Rapalben?
