Ja, elegant, cool, kultiviert.
Diese Aufnahme von Darn That Dream stammt nicht von dem erwähnten Album, ist aber aus der gleichen Zeit und mit der gleichen Besetzung. Wer hängt da alles um das Piano herum? Ich erkenne Ben Webster. Und der Typ mit Bart und Pfeife ab 1:30 min ist ja wohl die Bilderbuchversion eines Hipsters.

die atmosphäre ist toll, ein zum artigen applaudieren angehaltenes publikum, aufnahme-ansager, werbung für den grammy-gewinner bill evans (ausgezeichnet natürlich für die langweiligen selbstgespräche), notenblattordnen, entspanntes bandgeplauder, hochsommer.
aber diese band… bunker greift am ersten abend tatsächlich ein (!) mal zu den sticks, und das noch nicht mal mit effekt. israels ist bestrimmt ein guter bassist, aber sowas von unfunky und unschnell, mich langweilen seine soli unendlich. ganz schön sind seine wechsel in den lagen, aber flexibilität hört sich anders an. bunker grundsolide – wie lange spielte er da überhaupt schon mit evans, ein paar tage? manchmal ist das alles richtig schade – wenn evans ein rhythmisches angebot nach dem nächsten macht, und wirklich NICHTS davon wird angenommen. manchmal ist das alles aber auch egal, sie haben spaß, hörbar. der zweite abend ist auch riskanter. ganz toll dann am ende das allerletzte stück, „california, here I come“, ohne publikum, wahrscheinlich tief in der nacht. da will bunker seine sticks gar nicht mehr weglassen… hätte es nur dieses evanstrio gegeben, hätte ich an ihm vorbeigehört.
