vorgartendanke für den tipp, die ist dann beim nächsten mal dran. ich mag bisher eigentlich alles von evans (nachdem ich ihn vor vielen jahren live „entdeckt“ habe), aber mir geht es so, dass ich mich von einer aufnahme erstmal wieder längere zeit erholen muss. so auch gestern mit dem lissabon-dokument – das ist streckenweise so unglaublich, dass ich nicht mehr weiß, wohin mit meinen ohren.
Sehe leider nicht, was Du grad hörst (wohl eine hier gesperrte Seite), aber das mit Evans geht mir ähnlich, und da ich vier oder fünf Aufnahmen mit ihm habe, weiss ich auch nicht, ob ich wirklich noch mehr brauche … jüngst kam ja noch die letztes Jahr erschienene „Filu ‚e Ferru“ von Evan Parker dazu, die mich sehr beeindruckt.

das war die LIVE IN LISBON im quartett, improvisationen über akkordfolgen von standards („what is this thing called love“, „lush life“ usw.). das ist halt 70 minuten auf allerhöchstem ideen/energie-niveau, kaum abwechslung, aber ich erstarre da schon in ehrfurcht (und eigentlich ist es ja dann auch wieder ganz lässig präsentiert…).

Ach so, hätte ich mir ja denken können … das steht hier auch herum, und Evans wirkt auf mich genau wie Du es beschreibst: irsinnig dicht und schnell, aber trotzdem irgendwie locker und lässig. Aber die Dichte der Musik ist wohl der Grund, warum ich nur selten zu den vier oder fünf CDs greife, die von ihm da sind (darunter auch „Live in Lisbon“).

Da stört mich auch die Dichte der Musik nicht. Aber wenn er eher klassischen Jazz spielt finde ich das etwas ermüdend, trotzdem natürlich keinesfalls schlecht.

Bei mir heute morgen mal wieder diese Scheibe – das Cover ist wohl am Ende leider doch fast das beste daran, und natürlich Grant Green, aber der plumpe E-Bass nervt mich bald, ob das jetzt Chuck Rainey ist oder nicht, spielt dann auch keine Rolle.

Ziemlich guter erster Eindruck! Wurde unterbrochen, abgelenkt, setzte neu an, aber doch, das ist schon eigene Musik, die mich zu grossen Teilen sehr anspricht (mit Jen Shyu – hier im zweiten Track – werde ich wohl nicht mehr warm in diesem Leben), und v.a. auch erstaunlich warme Musik.
(aber Pi sollten sich mal ein paar anständige Schriftsätze kaufen, das Rückcover ist schlimm)
