Hab nicht alles gelesen… die 5/3-Alben sind wohl die Tipps der Redaktion oder der jeweiligen Autoren (es gibt zu/mit den betreffenden Gitarristen Artikel/Interviews).

Bei Green fehlt mir „Born to Be Blue“ (z.B. statt „Matador“). Und statt „Grant’s First Stand“ hätte ich vielleicht Willettes „Face to Face“ genommen. Aber ja, sonst find ich die Auswahl gut … ebenso bei Montgomery, ausser dass ich mich mit „Tequila“ – dem Album und dem Getränk – nie anfreunden konnte… vielleicht „Movin‘ Wes“ stattdessen?

die nelson-veras-cd habe ich und kann sie wärmstens empfehlen. veras spielt akustisch & sehr unaufdringlich, aber fern jeglicher ralph-towner-seligkeit. er ist mir zuerst auf dem steve-coleman-album WEAVING SYMBOLICS aufgefallen, von der ich mal ein stück im bft vorgestellt habe – auch da sind seine beiträge großartig.

An der Fusion-Liste könnt ich mich wohl ärgern und abmühen… immerhin ist „8:30“ nicht das bestplazierte WR-Album. Es fehlt einiges und anderes ist da, was ich niemals in eine Bestenliste aufnehmen würde… zudem ist da der übliche Mix aus Klassikern (späte 60er und frühe 70er) und späterem Zeug, von dem ich einiges eben für Quark halte… Miles‘ „Amandla“ etwa ist zwar ein ganz hübsches Album, aber das ist Pop. Auch bei „Tutu“ würd ich mich fragen, ob das noch in eine Fusion-Liste gehört. Fusion… überhaupt ich rede lieber von Jazz-Rock, denn die Alben von Garbarek mit Shankar oder von John Handy mit Ali Akbar Khan sind auch Fusion, ebenso McLaughlins Shakti… der Begriff Fusion ist etwas unglücklich, finde ich (und umfasst eben öfter als mir lieb ist den ganzen Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, Chick Korea Elektrik Band Kwark, den ich nicht hören mag).

EDIT: das klingt harscher als intendiert (ausser Chikk, dessen Musik seit den 70ern mag ich nur sehr punktuell) – es gibt im Jazz-Rock viel grossartige Musik und manches davon ist auf der obigen Liste auch drauf!

Auf Holdsworth werd ich immer mal wieder gestossen und gedrängt oder er ist irgendwo schon da, wo ich eben erst hinkomme (Ian Carr… aber da bin ich bisher eigentlich fast nur an den wunderbaren klassischeren Jazz-Aufnahmen hängengeblieben, den Aufnahmen des mit Don Rendell gemeinsam geführten Quintetts…)
Kenne Leute, die grosses auf ihn halten, muss ihn mal richtig anhören.
