    Liebe alle,

habe eine etwas spezielle Frage an alle R.E.M. Liebhaber…

Gibt’s da was?

    Danke!
    Scorpusa

      REM – Letter Never Sent

It’s been pretty simple so far, vacation in Athens is calling me
And knock, knock, knock on wood, I thought I’d left you behind
Heaven is yours, heaven is yours, heaven’s yours where I live

The thought of the catacombs left my soul at home
      This letter never sent
And it’s so far, it’s so dark, I’m so lost
      Heaven’s yours, heaven’s yours, heaven’s yours where I live
(Another story, another story for a while, someone show me)
When I’m moving too fast, where’s my new address?

The water is evening now, the catacombs are filling in
If my soul was made of stone, no, not, not so dark, dark

And it’s so far, it’s so dark, I’m so lost
And it’s so far, it’s so far, it’s so far

      Heaven’s yours, heaven’s yours, heaven’s yours where I live
(Another story, another story for a while, someone show me)
      Heaven’s yours, heaven’s yours, heaven’s yours where I live
(Another story, another story for a while, someone show me)

Generell das „Automatic For The People“ – Album, weil es ist zwar recht düster gehalten hat aber immer mal hellere Momente.

      Ansonsten vielleicht „Electrolite“.

Nicht ganz leicht aber vielleicht At My Most Beautiful.

I’ve found a way to make you
      I’ve found a way
a way to make you smile
      I read bad poetry
      into your machine
      I save your messages
      just to hear your voice.
      you always listen carefully
      to awkwards rhymes.
      you always say your name.
      like I woulden’t know it’s you,
      at your most beautiful.
I’ve found a way to make you
      I’ve found a way
a way to make you smile
      at my most beautiful
      I count your eyelashes secretly.
with every one, whisper I love you.
      I let you sleep.
I know you’re closed eye watching me,
      listening.
      I thought I saw a smile.
I’ve found a way to make you
      I’ve found a way
a way to make you smile

Ein Song vom Album „Green“, keine Ballade, aber vom Text her vielleicht passend:

Untitled Song (a.k.a. ‚So Awake Volunteer‘)

This world is big (this world is big) and so-awake (and so-awake)
I stayed up late (I stayed up late) to hear your voice
This light is here (this light is here) to keep you warm (to keep you warm)
This song is here (this song is here) to keep you strong

I made a list of things to say
But all I really want to say (But all I want)
All I really want to say is (That’s all I want)
Hold her and keep him strong (I made a list of things to say)
While I’m away from here (But all I want, that’s all I want)
Hold her and keep her strong (This world is big and so-awake)
While I’m away from here (I stayed up late to hear your voice)
Hold him and keep him strong (This light is here to keep you warm)
While I’m away from here (This song is here to keep you strong)

I’ve seen the world and so-awake
And stay up late to hear me sing (keep her strong)
      Just hold her
I’ve seen the world and so-awake
And stay up late to hear me sing (keep him strong)
      Just hold him
Hold her and keep her strong (I’ve seen the world and so-awake)
While I’m away from here (So stay up late to hear me sing)
Hold him and keep him strong (I’ve seen the world and so-awake)
While I’m away from here (So stay up late to hear me sing)

Wen auch nicht so gewollt, „The One I Love“ würde aber wohl passen da die Melodie nicht traurig ist :

This one goes out to the one I love
This one goes out to the one I’ve left behind

A simple prop to occupy my time
This one goes out to the one I love
      Fire. Fire.

This one goes out to the one I love
This one goes out to the one I’ve left behind

A simple prop to occupy my time
This one goes out to the one I love
Fire. (she’s comin‘ down on her own, now)
Fire. (she’s comin‘ down on her own, now)

This one goes out to the one I love
This one goes out to the one I’ve left behind

Another prop has occupied my time
This one goes out to the one I love
Fire. (she’s comin‘ down on her own, now)
Fire. (she’s comin‘ down on her own, now)
Fire. (she’s comin‘ down on her own, now)
Fire. (she’s comin‘ down on her own, now)

Shirts in the closet, shoes in the hall
Mamas in the kitchen, baby and all
      Everything is everything
      Everything is everything
      But youre missing

Coffee cups on the counter, jackets on the chair
Papers on the doorstep, but youre not there
      Everything is everything
      Everything is everything
      But youre missing

Pictures on the nightstand, tvs on in the den
Your house is waiting, your house is waiting
For you to walk in, for you to walk in
But youre missing, when I shut out the lights
Youre missing, when I close my eyes
Youre missing, when I see the sun rise
      Youre missing

Children are asking if its alright
Will you be in our arms tonight?

Morning is morning, the evening falls I got
Too much room in my bed, to many phone calls
      Hows everything, everything?
      Everything, everything
      Youre missing, youre missing

Gods drifting in heaven, devils in the mailbox
I got dust on my shoes, nothing but teardrops

The One I Love?

Allerdings. Das passiert wenn man nur „This one goes out to the one I’ve left behind“ hört/versteht aber nicht die Folgezeile „A simple prop to occupy my time“.

Readying to bury your father and your mother,
what did you think when you lost another?
I used to wonder why did you bother,
distanced from one, blind to the other.

Listen here my sister and my brother
what would you care if you lost the other?
I always wonder why did we bother,
distanced from one, blind to the other.

      Oh…, oh…, but sweetness follows

It’s these little things, they can pull you under.
Live your life filled with joy and wonder.
I always knew this altogether thunder
was lost in our little lives.

      Oh…, oh…, but sweetness follows.
      Oh…, oh…, but sweetness follows.

It’s these little things, they can pull you under.
Live your life filled with joy and thunder.
      Yeah, yeah we were altogether
      lost in our little lives.

      Oh…, Oh…, Ah…

      Oh, oh, but sweetness follows.
Oh, oh, oh, but sweetness follows.

Herr RossiEin Song vom Album „Green“, keine Ballade, aber vom Text her vielleicht passend:

Untitled Song (a.k.a. ‚So Awake Volunteer‘)

      World Leader Pretend

      (Berry/Buck/Mills/Stipe)

I sit at my table and wage war on myself
It seems like it’s all, it’s all for nothing
      I know the barricades, and
I know the mortar in the wall breaks
I recognize the weapons, I used them well

This is my mistake. Let me make it good
I raised the wall and I will be the one to knock it down

I’ve a rich understanding of my finest defenses
I proclaim that claims are left unstated,
      I demand a rematch
      I decree a stalemate
      I divine my deeper motives
      I recognize the weapons
I’ve practiced them well. I fitted them myself

      (chorus)
It’s amazing what devices you can sympathize, empathize
This is my mistake. Let me make it good
I raised the wall and I will be the one to knock it down

Reach out for me and hold me tight. Hold that memory
Let my machine talk to me, let my machine talk to me

      This is my world
And I am world leader pretend
      This is my life
      And this is my time
I have been given the freedom
To do as I see fit
It’s high time I’ve razed the walls
      That I’ve constructed

      (repeat chorus)

You fill in the mortar. You fill in the harmony
You fill in the mortar. I raised the wall
      And I’m the only one
I will be the one to knock it down

Ich fand ja für solche Sachen immer „Why not smile“ (vom Album „Up„) recht passend. Das jedenfalls soll mal irgendwann auf meiner Beerdigung gespielt werden…
