Them's fightin' words.Und weil ich gerade seine Autobiographie lese: heute vor 53 Jahren starb er, the rogue, the rake, the Baron of Hollywood. Er war Kolonialbeamter und Freund von Fidel, Filmemacher und Autor, etwas zimperlicher Straßenkrimineller und wurde ungerechtfertigt als Aushängeschild von Ruhe und Ordnung genutzt. Sein Bild schmückte tausende von Mädchenzimmern und er starb, stolz auf sein verlebtes Gesicht, betrauert von seiner 17-jährigen Geliebten, der obduzierende Arzt fand kaum ein gesundes Organ in seinem Körper.
Kein angenehmer Mensch wahrscheinlich, aber in seinen Filmen wirkte Swashbuckling so leicht und elegant, dass es kein anderer so hinbekam.
