Reveal *****Oh, volle Punktzahl für Reveal. Hab' das Album gestern mal wieder gehört und war überrascht, weil ich es auch viel stärker fand als ich es in Erinnerung hatte. Kann die Bewertung also nachvollziehen. Wahrhaftig ein Sommeralbum.

Schlechtere R.E.M. Songs gibts auf anderen Platten zur Genüge, z.B. Binky the Doormat, The Wrong Child, Auctioneer, Just a Touch, Lightnin' Hopkins, King of Comedy, Star 69, Circus Envy, You, You're in the Air, Burning Hell, Rotary Ten, White Tornado, Animal, Change (Dub), Saturn Return, Chorus and the Ring, Beachball, High Speed Train, Worst Joke Ever, Departure, Undertow …--

If I'd lived my life by what others were thinkin', the heart inside me would've died.[/FONT] [/SIZE][/FONT][/COLOR]Ehrlich gesagt, und ich habe das jetzt schon häufiger in verschiedenen Posts gehört, ich kann überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen, warum „Binky the doormat“ ein sclechter R.E.M.-Song sein soll.
Ich bin seit ca. 15 Jahren (ja, die Green – Out of time-Phase, in der sie auch in Deutschland mehr als nur zum Inside-Tip wurden) großer R.E.M.-Fan und ich liebe diesen Song und genieße es jedesmal, wenn ich ihn höre.
Vor allem live, auf der „Road Movie“ (oder „Tourfilm“? – nagelt mich jetzt bitte nicht fest)-DVD, kommt er toll, aber auch im Studio ist das Gesangs-Wechselspiel zwischen Stipe und Mills („Go away. go go!“) einfach toll.
Für mich ist er ein Highlight im R.E.M.-Katalog, den ich vollständig von „Murmur“ an kenne.
Mich würde mal interessieren, was daran nicht gefällt (zu platt? zu plump eingängig?).--
