(Sehr schön gemachte 4-CD Box, mit 1-3 Tracks von den wichtigsten Alben (sagen wir: denen in Atoms Liste) plus einer meiner Ansicht nach allzu großzügigen Auswahl des spirituellen Krempels der frühen 1970er („United States Of Mind“) und der teilweise unhörbaren thematischen „Silver ’n Brass/Wood/Voices/Farting Noises“ derselben Dekade.@kai: :wave:

Ich zähle das zu Blakey, daher die Frage.Ich meine die Blue Note LPs BLP 1507/BLP 1508, welche Material des Bohemia Engagements vom November 1955 enthalten. Ich hätte sie natürlich unerwähnt lassen können oder in einem Blakey Thread nennen können. Da das Quintett aber unter dem Namen „The Jazz Messengers“ auftrat und Blue Note auch bei Veröffentlichung der LPs auf die Ensemblezusätze Blakey oder Silver verzichtete, habe ich sie erwähnt. Außerdem ist es die gleiche Besetzung, welche auf der Blue Note LP 1518 „Horace Silver And The Jazz Messengers“ zu hören ist und da das Material so vorzüglich ist, kann man es nicht oft genug erwähnen.

Es stimmt auch, dass das Cover nur „The Jazz Messengers“ nennt, vielleicht dachte Blue Note daran, die Band als Gruppe zu vermarkten. Tolle Musik ist es natürlich auf jeden Fall.
