es ist großer kitsch, aber mir gefallen die richard hawley alben ausgesprochen gut. er croont im späten 60er stil von d.martin/sinatra/country.
beide cd´s kamen mir 3 sternen weg wenn ich mich nicht irre. solche mit „so la-la“ bewerteten platten gehen natürlich leicht unter. wie kommt hawley bei anderen an?--

Auf New Voices Vol. 48 ist das Stück The Nights are cold drauf. Hab ich aber jetzt nicht im Ohr. Sonst kenne ich noch das Stück Long Black Train, gefällt mir gut. Sonst weiss ich nix, kenne ich nix.

ich hab nur diese eine cd da… moment… ‚late night final‘. schöne nachtmusik. vergesse sie immer wieder und freue mich immer, wenn sie mir mal wieder in den player fällt. brauche nicht mehr von ihm, als diese eine. das mit den 60s-bezügen stimmt schon, aber er hat keine entsprechende stimme, sondern eher eine richard-ashcroft-britpop-verwandte, so dass die musik immer etwas nach schauspiel klingt . was in diesem fall aber gerade das schöne ist.

but I did not.Bei Richard Hawley bin ich in letzter Zeit richtig auf den Geschmack gekommen. Er war mir schon vorher als Sessiongitarrist für Pulp bekannt und frage mich, warum er sich solange mit seinen Solo-Ambitionen zurückgehalten hat. Vor allem der erste Teil von Late Night Final ist ganz „großes Kino“. Wunderbare Songs die das (Romantiker)Herz erwärmen und sicherlich besonders gut für einsame Stunden im Herbst / Winter aber auch für Sommernächte unter klarem Sternenhimmel geeignet sind.
Natürlich sind viele Songs ein wenig kitschig geraten, aber dafür bestechen sie durch eine sehr dezente und atmospärische Produktion die 60er-Jahre-Charme versprüht. Sehr schön und im positiven Sinne herrlich altmodisch!!!! :)
Das Debutalbum „Richard Hawley“ und den Nachfolger „Lowledges“ finde ich dagegen nicht ganz so gut gelungen.--
Die größten Kritiker der Elche waren früher selber welche!Gerade vom Hawley newsletter bekommen, schön, schnief, sway …..

Firstly – great news that Richard has been nominated for a Brit for best British Male Solo Artist – not something any of us, least of all Richard, would have expected. The Brits takes place on 20th Feb and this catagory is decided by industry judges. http://www.brits.co.uk/Thats the day after Richards UK tour ends in the near home show of Buxton.
