    13. When Jesus Came To Play
    14. Night In The Wilderness
    15. Jump Start (Live)

Originally released in 1991, Catfish Rising featured some of the more regular Tull band members alongside some not so regular Tull members – Dave Pegg was on tour with Fairport Convention for some of the recording so his son Matt took over bass duties at those times! Keyboards were also handled by an array of musicians for this recording.

Catfish Rising has been referred to as Tull’s best album from the 1990’s, with it’s raw energy and enthusiasm differentiating it from the Jethro Tull output during the 80’s.It is probably the most Blues-influenced album since their 1968 album release: This Was. Many more American musical and lyrical references abound here. The songs are mostly up-tempo pieces but there are a couple of slow bluesy songs too. Almost a total lack of Folk and Classical stylings exist on this work, although there a few acoustic tracks with mandolin and mandola well to the fore. But the overall feel is one of Blues-Rock.

Bonus tracks originally appeared on the B side of the August 1991 single ‘This Is Not Love’

    A LITTLE LIGHT MUSIC

    1. Someday The Sun Won’t Shine For You (Live)
    2. Living In The Past (Live)
    3. Life Is A Long Song (Live)
    4. Rocks On The Road (Live)
    5. Under Wraps (Live)
    6. Nursie (Live)
    7. Too Old To Rock ‚N‘ Roll (Live)
    8. One White Duck (Live)
    9. A New Day Yesterday (Live)
    10. John Barleycorn (Live)
    11. Look Into The Sun (Live)
    12. Christmas Song (Live)
    13. From A Dead Beat To An Old Greaser (Live)
    14. This Is Not Love (Live)
    15. Bouree (Live)
    16. Pussy Willow (Live)
    17. Locomotive Breath (Live)

A Little Light Music was recorded live on the Spring Tour 1992 at Athens, London, Zurich, Frankfurt, Caesarea, Mannheim, Prague, Graz, Munich & Jerusalem. It was the first live album since Bursting Out was released in 1978. The tour was billed as: “A Little Light Music featuring the songs of Jethro Tull: A More Or Less Acoustic Performance by Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Dave Pegg and Dave Mattacks” and saw them perform, as a four-piece, in a bunch of interesting venues across Europe and it’s wider circle. The touring band played a set list of the band’s more whimsical material alongside acoustic and stripped-down arrangements of some of the rockier tracks, mixing loud with quiet, fast with slow to produce an album of varied favourites. The tour took them back to a simpler sound and essentially the guitar and flute line-up of the original band.

    ROOTS TO BRANCHES

    . Roots To Branches
    2. Rare And Precious Chain
    3. Out Of The Noise
    4. This Free Will
    5. Valley
    6. Dangerous Veils
    7. Beside Myself
    8. Wounded Old And Treacherous
    9. At Last Forever
    10. Stuck In The August Rain
    11. Another Harry’s Bar

Features Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Andrew Giddings, Doane Perry and Dave Pegg

Roots To Branches was recorded at Ian Anderson’s home studio between December 1994 and June 1995, before the next schedule of concerts started. Many of the songs had already been written, or at least thought up before recording began, although the final arrangements were worked on in the studio and the lyrics often came after the backing tracks.
An Eastern air hangs over the style of much of the albums music. Arabic scales and motifs abound. Lyrical elements of Indian vacations and work trips are evident in Out Of The Noise and Beside Myself. There are a few uptempo songs that move the album into a pretty hectic pace at points but the final three songs offer a more relaxed quality to close what Ian Anderson sees as one of the best ever Tull records – many of these songs make regular appearances in the live show

    ROCK ISLAND

    1. Kissing Willie
    2. The Rattlesnake Trail
    3. Ears Of Tin
    4. Undressed To Kill
    5. Rock Island
    6. Heavy Water
    7. Another Christmas Song
    8. The Whalers Dues
    9. Big Riff And Mando
    10. Strange Avenues
    11. Christmas Song (Live From Zurich)
    12. Cheap Day Return/Mother Goose (Live From Zurich)
    13. Locomotive Breath (Live From Zurich)

The 1989 release Rock Island moved on from Crest Of A Knave with a darker set of songs covering alienation, dislocated society, environmental questions and other generally sombre and reflective tomes.
The songs fall into two kinds: those that are rock-based and regular solid 4/4 tempo guitar-based tunes and those that are more complex and feature keyboards, flutes etc in greater abundance. They almost alternate in the running order, at least during the first half of the record.
Bonus tracks recorded live at Zurich October 13th 1989 and originally appeared on the B side of the CD single ‘Christmas Song’ (studio version) in December 1989
