According to BW&BK sources, Sanctuary UK are putting together a full reissue program on BLACK SABBATH next year starting in March. The first three albums (1970’s Black Sabbath, 1970’s Paranoid and 1971’s Master Of Reality) will be released with bonus tracks.
Ich hoffe diese Überspielungen klingen besser als die lausigen 96er Castle Remaster oder die Black Box !

Die Erste von Black Sabbath finde ich richtig gut in der 1996 Remastered-Serie.
Die anderen waren nicht so gut….besonders Vol4--

Merkwürdig: Sparchy hatte sie hier im Forum des öfteren hoch gelobt wegen ihres guten Klanges. Der sagt so, der andere so! Bei dem meist muffigen Sabbath-Klang erwarte ich mir nicht allzuviel.

Vielleicht wird sie hier auch mit der Sanctuary/Castle Box aus dem Jahr 2001 verwechselt. Über deren Klangqualität kann ich allerdings nichts sagen, weiß aber, dass sie auf einer anderen Quelle basieren. Die Quelle der echten ‚Black Box‘ sind die Masterbänder.

Wann kommt Horst Lichter mit dem Händlerkärtchen und knallt mich ab?sparch… Vielleicht wird sie hier auch mit der Sanctuary/Castle Box aus dem Jahr 2001 verwechselt. Über deren Klangqualität kann ich allerdings nichts sagen, weiß aber, dass sie auf einer anderen Quelle basieren. Die Quelle der echten ‚Black Box‘ sind die Masterbänder.

Jetzt schon 62 Jahre Rock 'n' RollGenau die ist es. Ist zwar recht teuer, aber dank der hervorragenden Ausstattung und der sehr guten Klangqualität durchaus lohnenswert. Spektakuläres Bonusmaterial gibt es allerdings nicht, wenn man mal von den Beat Club Aufnahmen absieht, aber die gab es auch schon vorher.

Da täuscht Du dich…
Castle hatte für seine Remaster (86/96) die Original Master Tapes zur Verfügung.
Rhino hatte bei der „Black Box“ (siehe Bilder in obigen Posting) Safety Copies aus den Warner Vaults zur Verfügung. Gleiches gilt auch für Rhino’s Deep Purple Box Set „Shades“… wo man ebenfalls auf Kopien zugegriffen hat. Wer die 86er Castle Remaster noch hat, darf sich glücklich schätzen… klingen um Längen besser!!! Aber vielleicht wirds ja mit den 2007er Remaster besser… wer weiß!!!
Auf dem Bild: Mastering Engineers Steve Hoffman u. Bill Inglot (Rhino Records)… welche ich im Frühjahr 2006 getroffen habe.

Das Zitat unten bezieht sich auf den Sampler ‚Symptom of the universe‘. Die Quelle für die Black Box ist jedoch die gleiche.

Normally I don’t like packages like this, because it strikes me as an attempt to get folks to just buy the same songs again. However, this time it’s most definitely worth it. This isn’t just a standard repackage. This set does have the songs that we know well, but these are a new remastering of the songs. This has nothing to do with the 1996 Castle Communications remaster of the albums from 1970-1987. These are NEW remasters taken from the original Warner Bros Master tapes (indeed, this bears the Warner Bros logo as well as the Rhino one). In fact, I was informed this week that the 96 Castle remasters were not „authorized“ by the band – it was one of those record label things. It’s not like they’re illegal or something, but not a „band sponsored“ item.Aber selbst wenn für die Black Box nicht die Original Masterbänder verwendet worden sein sollten, ist es doch erstaunlich, dass die 86er Castle Versionen besser klingen sollen. Aus jener Serie kenne ich nur die ‚Sabotage‘, und die klang auch nicht besser als meine billige N.E.M.S. LP aus den frühen 80ern sondern stellenweise sogar noch schlechter (‚Symptom of the universe‘ z.B.). Die Black Box Version klingt um Welten besser und meine Castle CD habe ich verschenkt.

Black Sabbath Paranoid Deluxe 3 CD Set.
Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, Ozzy Osbourne – four names that resonate throughout Rock’s recorded history as clear and sublime as the haunting bell that tolls the opening to their eponymous debut album from 1970.Collectively, they formed Black Sabbath and forged the most haunting and hypnotic rock sound of all time. Pushed by its success, the album hit number one in the UK, and is the only Black Sabbath album to have done so. The US release was held until January 1971, as the Black Sabbath album was still on the charts at the time of Paranoid’s UK release. The album broke into the top ten in the US in March 1971, and would go on to sell four million copies in the US alone, with virtually no radio airplay.
Allmusic’s Steve Huey, who cites Paranoid as „one of the greatest and most influential heavy metal albums of all time“, which „defined the sound and style of heavy metal more than any other record in rock history“.
Paranoid is expanded to a triple-disc containing the extremely rare 1974 Quadrophonic mix of the album. The album also includes deluxe digipak gatefold packaging with expanded booklets containing rare and previously unseen photographs, comprehensive sleeve-notes telling the story behind each album and include images of rare single covers and memorabilia from the period.
Paranoid is the first release in a set of Black Sabbath deluxe expanded editions. Each remastered album includes an additional disc of previously unheard outtakes, demos and instrumental tracks taken from the original studio sessions

Die Anzahl der Menschen, die den quadrophonic Mix mehr als einmal hört, dürfte sich im niedrigen einstelligen Bereich bewegen. Wer braucht so etwas? Wer sagt: „Au ja, der quadrophonic Mix auf CD, darauf habe ich seit Jahrzehnten gewartet, jetzt kann ich meine alte quadrophonische Anlage aus dem Baggersee bergen und „Paranoid“ völlig neu erleben.“ Wer?
Wie passend, dass eine der CDs eine SACDs ist – noch so ein gescheitertes Format. :lol:
