fevers-and-mirrorsVerstehe irgendwie die Schwierigkeit nicht – einfach die Veröffentlichungen listen, die einem am liebsten sind. Nicht?
„Live At The Village Vanguard“, „Live At The Village Vanguard Again!“, „The Complete 1961 Village Vanguard Recordings“ und „The Other Village Vanguard Tapes“ z.B. sind doch vier völlig verschiedene paar Schuhe, die auch verschieden gewertet gehören. Irgendwas zusammenfassen oder „kompatibel“ machen zu wollen, führt m.E. nur in die irre und weg von der eigentlichen Thread-Vorgabe.

So ist es. Klar gibt es diesen unseligen Trend, Veröffentlichungen zusammenzupacken. So enthält The Doors‘ In Concert sowohl Absolutely Live als auch Alive She Cried. Wer dieses Pakete bevorzugt, soll sie halt angeben. Sie sind aber etwas anderes als die jeweiligen Originalveröffentlichungen. Einzige Ausnahme wäre, wenn eine (Live-)Platte unter 2 verschiedenen Titel veröffentlicht wurde. Aber um den armen pipe-bowl nicht zu nerven, kann man eventuell erwarten, dass das dem Listenersteller bekannt ist, sind ja schließlich seine Top 20 Live-Platten.

@kakofon: Freut mich, dass noch jemand McCoy Tyners umwerfendes Enlightenment so zu schätzen weiß. Interessant, dass bei dir Evenings at the Village Gate so weit vorn steht, bei mir liegen da noch einige davor, vor allem Japan und Live at the Half Note: One Down, One Up. London 1986 fehlt mir schmerzlich, die habe ich dummerweise vor 20 Jahren verkauft.
