Was er in den ’50s abgeliefert hat, kann es mit jedem Künstler in jedem Jahrzehnt aufnehmen. Alleine schon dafür ist er unsterblich.

In den 60s wurde er sogar noch besser, was den Gesang anbelangt. Und auch in den 70ern hat er noch den ein oder anderen Brillanten am Start.

when there's nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fireNee, wenn ich eine weitere starke Dekade nennen müsste, würde ich die Vierziger wählen. Gesanglich, aber auch von den gesamten Einspielungen her. Ab den Sixties nimmt das Niveau im Durchschnitt doch rapide ab, manchmal wird’s gar richtig unangenehm, v.a. in späteren Jahren. Was natürlich nicht, und da gebe ich Dir recht, bedeuten soll, dass da keine Perlen zu finden sind. Ich habe ja auch gleich zwei post-1959-Tracks in meiner Liste, sogar beide sehr hoch platziert.

In den 40ern und weiten Teilen der 50ern, klingt einerseits seine Stimme zu dünn und sein Gesang ist zu wenig selbstbewusst. Die Arrangements sind geschmackvoll, aber es fehlt der Fumm. Das ist Sinatra für eingeschlafene Füße im Vergleich zu den späteren Aufnahmen.

Ich finde es absolut außergewöhnlich, dass wir bei einem Künstler darüber debattieren können in welchem Jahrzehnt er seine beste Phase hatte. Von welcher(m) Band/Interpreten kann ähnliches sagen? Mir fällt da spontan nur The Boss ein. Das Gros der Künstler hat nicht mal ein gute Dekade.

Mit einer sehr guten, umfangreichen Sinatra-Compilation ist man eigentlich bestens bestückt für die Umfrage.Da habe ich auch zwei, aus der ich eine wunderbare Liste hätte basteln können. Aber: Es wird nicht ersichtlich, um welche der 386 Songversionen es sich vorliegend jeweils handelt. Und das zu eruieren ist mir zu abtörnend. Von daher bin ich auch raus…
