„The tipping point“ hat bei mir ein wenig Erstes Album-Bonus, „Phrenology“ ist mir bei all seinen Qualitäten zu zerfahren, „Things fall apart“ hat die mitunter größten Momente, bleibt mir in der ersten Hälfte aber eher auf Distanz – „How I got over“ vereint zuletzt alles, was ich an The Roots schätze: Wahnsinnig einprägsame, teils hochmelodische Beats, starke Sampleauswahl, durchweg tolle Features (John Legend!) und Thoughts‘ immerzu überwältigende Raps.

Irrlicht Wahnsinnig einprägsame, teils hochmelodische Beats, starke Sampleauswahl, durchweg tolle Features (John Legend!) und Thoughts‘ immerzu überwältigende Raps.

Features mag ich oft eigentlich nicht so gerne und es gibt jene auf fast allen Alben von The Roots.
Mein Instinkt sagt mir, dass die Zusammenarbeit mit Legend für „Wake Up!“ noch einen Tick feiner ist.
„Once Again“ hat mich nämlich in den letzten Wochen endgültig überzeugt, so dass ich mehr von John Legend brauche.
Mit „Wake Up“ werde ich The Roots/John Legend bald mehr vertiefen.
