„Stupidity tries“ ist eines der Smith Lieder, die mir immer wieder ein Lächeln abnötigen. Vielleicht ob des harmonischen Untertons, vielleicht aufgrund des resignativen über sich selbst Lachens oder der Art und Weise, wie die Melodie sich immer im Refrain abrundet und dennoch kantig bleibt. Besonders schön: „Couldn’t think of a thing/That I hope tomorrow brings/Oh what a surprise/Stupidity tries“.
