WerbungDenim And Leather (2009 Remaster)
EMI’s campaign of expanded Saxon remasters continues with the band’s fourth studio album, Denim And Leather. Originally released on the Carrere label in 1981, the album catches the band at an early commercial and creative peak, featuring the classic singles ‘Princess Of The Night’, ‘Never Surrender’ and their tribute to their appearance at the first Castle Donington Festival, ‘And The Bands Played On’. The album now includes the Nigel Thomas remix of ’20,000 Ft available on CD for the first time, plus the otherwise unavailable ‘Bap Shoo Ap’ (recorded at the Monsters Of Rock Festival in 1980), both of which were originally b-sides of the now highly collectable ‘Never Surrender’ double seven inch single. Also included are no less than seven live tracks recorded on the 1981 Denim And Leather tour.
1. Princess Of The Night
2. Never Surrender
3. Out Of Control
4. Rough And Ready

Power And The Glory (2009 Remaster)
This expanded edition of Saxon’s fifth studio album features the singles ‘Power And The Glory’, in addition to its b-side, an exclusive live version of ‘Denim And Leather’, plus ‘Nightmare’ and its b-side, ‘747 (Stangers In The Night)’ (live). The album is also expanded with a previously unreleased version of the hit single ‘Suzie Hold On’, originally produced by Jeff Glixman for potential inclusion on the album. Before going into the studio, Saxon would often enter a “demo” studio in Doncaster to work on early versions of the proposed songs. Included here are eight such demos, including alternate version of ‘Redline’, ‘Midas Touch’ and the title track, as well as the much rarer ‘Turn Out The Lights’, ‘Stand Up And Rock’ and ‘Saturday Night’.

Crusader (2009 Remaster)
Crusader, released in 1984, was produced by Kevin Beamish at Sound City in Los Angeles (a far cry from their South Yorkshire roots!). According to singer Biff Byford, “We were trendsetters back then. Today, everybody from Trivium onwards dresses like knights going to the crusades, and writes lyrics about it. But back then it was virtually unheard of for a metal band to do anything like that.” As well as previously unavailable demo versions of the album’s ‘A Little Bit of What You Fancy’, ‘Sailing To America’, a cover of The Sweet’s ‘Set Me Free’ and the title track, this edition now includes the rare tracks ‘Borderline’ and ‘Helter Skelter’.

16. For Whom The Bell Tolls (Monitor Mix)Saxon’s melodic ninth studio album, Destiny, saw the band go for a more polished route than their grittier, New Wave Of British Heavy Metal roots. Opening with what at the time was a surprising take on Christopher Cross’s ‘Ride Like The Wind’, this edition is expanded with the addition of the 12” mix of radio friendly rock ballad ‘I Can’t Wait Anymore’, as well as its respective b-sides ‘Broken Heroes’ and ‘Gonna Shout’, both recorded live in Madrid. This set also includes a live take of ‘Rock The Nations’ recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon, which originally appeared as the b-side to ‘Ride Like The Wind’, plus two previously unreleased early monitor mixes.
