Hey Bernd, ich hatte es ja nicht mehr zu hoffen gewagt, dass du diesen Thread fortsetzt. Schön, dass es endlich weitergeht. Auch dieses Kapitel ist für mich sehr informativ. Ich hoffe mal, dass bis zur nächsten Runde – die folgenden Solo-Jahre behandelst du doch? – nicht wieder mehr als ein Jahr vergeht.

First Official Tour 2007 Confirmation
The official word came down on the Canadian dates from band management today. Here’s the detail from their newsletter:Putting to bed the longstanding rumours of a reunion tour, Heaven and Hell have announced their first tour dates for 2007. The tour will feature 11 Canadian shows, along with an exciting one-night-only performance at one of the most prestigious venues in the world, New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Heaven and Hell reunites Tony Iommi with Ronnie James Dio, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice for the first time in 15 years.
Currently there are 12 scheduled stops, starting on March 11 in Vancouver and ending on March 30 in New York City. The ‘Heaven And Hell’ world tour will continue until the end of the year with shows in the US, Asia and Europe. Additional dates will be announced shortly.Multi-platinum recording artist Megadeth will be joining the tour, and previewing never before heard material from their upcoming release on Roadrunner Records, United Abominations. The tour also brings the return of Down, featuring Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown from Pantera, as well as Pepper Keenan of COC. This will undisputedly be the most anticipated rock tour of 2007.
The heavy metal icons are also scheduled to release a new anthology entitled Black Sabbath: The Dio Years. Anticipated release date is 3rd April 2007 on Rhino/Warner Bros. Records.

Die einzige unbekanntere Studioaufnahme von Sabbath mit Dio, welche einigemaßen selten ist, ist die Alternativversion von „Letters from earth“ (B-Seite TV-Crimes). „Dream Killer“ ist ebenfalls ein unveröffentlichter Song aus 1991/92. Ich finde sie hätten sich ruhig „Black Sabbath“ nennen können. YES hießen ja auch immer (O.K. einmal auch ABWH) YES, egal mit wem oder was.

RUMOUR: The „box set“ has been reduced to a single disc to be released in Feb 2007.
PERSONAL SPECULATION: If the set does get reduced to a single disc, I hope we eventually DO get a „Black Box II“, and that this single disc is a precursor to Black Box II like the „Symptom“ set from 2002 was to „Black Box“. These albums should get the same kind of sonic upgrade that the original albums did. Rumour was that record company pressure is forcing this to a single disc. Do these people forget how well Heaven & Hell and Mob Rules sold in the early 80’s? There’s a shitload of Sab fans out there who have been clamoring for a sonic upgrade to these albums, and if we lose that upgrade due to record company pressure, well, then „middle finger“ from me.
Overnight some new information about the Dio Years disc has come to light, so we’ll get straight to it. The music site „Brave Words“ has an article which has an interview with Tony Iommi by our old friend Martin Popoff. This is significant, because it names the three new tracks and gives a description of them. Here’s the relevant text from the article:
Shadow of the Wind: The slow one is quite a heavy track. It’s called ‚Shadow Of The Wind‘. And Ronnie presented the first idea for that, and then I just came up with more stuff to go with it, and it’s a really good track. Very similar to the old Sabbath style of writing. There’s not loads of things on it. It’s just really basic with the vocal. Probably about six minutes or something like that.
The Devil Cries: And then we’ve got ‚The Devil Cries‘, which is a mid-tempo one, which again is quite a powerful song. And I must say that Ronnie has done a fantastic job on the vocals on all of these. He really has, and the lyrical content and the actual melodies are very good. So that’s the mid-tempo one. That’s an interesting track.
Ear in the Wall: And then we’ve got a fast one which is called ‚Ear In The Wall‘, and that’s a fast one (laughs).

Wollen wir hoffen, dass DIO das Material besser zu Gesicht steht als seine letzten Studioprodukte (Magica, Kill the Dragon, Master of the Moon). Alle, mit großen (old school)Vorschusslorbeern bedacht u. am Ende schwächer als sein letztes gutes Werk (Dream Evil). Nicht mal die Titelsongs waren Killer und die waren doch immer eine Bank! :spudnikco--

As previously reported on Undercover in October, Black Sabbath will release a best of, of The Dio Years, featuring three new songs from the Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Vinnie Appice lineup.
The new songs, entitled ‚The Devil Cried‘, ‚Shadow of the Wind‘ and ‚Ear In The Wall‘ will be the first from the band since Dio left in 1983.
The album will be released on April 7.
On top of this, there will be a previously unreleased live album from a 1981 show at London’s famed Hammersmith Odeon, which will be released on May 1.
