So? Welche denn? Rock und Power Pop sind Antagonismen. Das schrieb ich weiter oben schon mal. Zwar haben Bands wie Cheap Trick durchaus auch Rock im Repertoire, aber dennoch ist Power Pop niemals Rock.

Herr RossiWeiter oben wurde einige bereits vergriffene Kompilationen zum Thema empfohlen. Gibt es auch neuere, noch lieferbare (soweit empfehlenswert)?

Roots of Powerpop, die Trackliste liest sich nicht schlecht, auch wenn ich sicher zu diesem Titel eine andere gemacht hätte.
Grundsätzlich empfehle ich nach wie vor Not Lame; das ist einer der größten einschlägigen Mail Order. Dort einfach mal nach Compilations schauen. Auch bei Soundflat gibt es immer wieder Power Pop im Angebot. Aber die klassischen guten Power Pop Sampler scheint es momentan nur auf dem Sekundär Markt zu geben.

Hey, ich würde auch nie posten, dass ich Hard Rock höre. Sollte nur als Orientierung dienen, damit Power Pop nicht mit „poppigem Punk“ gleichgesetzt wird. An der Schnittstelle gibt es trotzdem ein paar Bands, z.B. Greg Kihns frühere Band Earthquake. Die Pezband fing ja auch mit starken Blues-Einflüssen an.

Sehr toll ist die Yellow Pills-Compilation auf dem Numero Group-Label, sehr viele Sachen, die man sonst auf keinen Compilations findet, zusammengestellt von Jordan Oakes (der in den 90ern das „Yellow Pills“-Fanzine betrieb, gab auch schon früher einige Compilations von ihm, die mittlerweile aber out of print sind).

Zur Zeit gibt es auch wieder ordentlich neue Power Pop Bands zu entdecken:
The Black Tie Revue aus Pittsburgh/USA haben eine Platte gemacht die so auch ohne Probleme 1978 hätte erscheinen können. Weiter neue Bands die mir gerade einfallen:

Nice Boys (mit leichtem Glam Einschlag)

und wer gerne Literatur über das Thema Powerpop haben möchte sollte sich das US Fanzine „Rock Mania“ zulegen. Die Nr. 1 ist letztes Jahr erschienen
und dürfte unter www.totalrockmania.com noch einfach zu bekommen sein.
Dort werden weitere zumeist ältere unbekanntere Powerpop Bands vorgestellt.

Oder doch einfach mal auf www.CDBaby.com gehen unter der Sektion Rock auf Powerpop gehen und sich satt hören.

Bei Hyped To Death gibt es eine schöne Definition:

Powerpop means unrepentant hooks, Rickenbacher guitars and shameless singalong choruses. Powerpop means never covering up an emotion, however adolescent, goofy or fleeting.
