Nachdem er sich für „Graceland“ mit afrikanischer Musik beschäftigt hatte, hier der Versuch einer „Fusion“ mit brasilianischer Musik, speziell mit den Drum-Patterns der Musik des riesigen Amazonas-Gebiets.
Die Platte ist hochinteressant, klingt für mich in großen Teilen aber eher nach einer „akademischen“ Arbeit als nach einer wirklichen Fusion verschiedener Stile. Hypnotischer als der Vorgänger. Immer noch einzigartig, wie hier musikalische Welten zusammentreffen. Die pulsierenden Rhythmen verfremden die typische Introspektion von Simon.
