British rock star Noel Gallagher said he will be supporting Italy when he attends the World Cup final for the first time on Sunday.
Oasis guitarist Gallagher, a keen football fan, said he believed Italy would be hungrier than France. „Much of that French squad have won it already but the Italians need to win for Italian football. I said to my Italian friends the other night, ‚If you beat Germany you’ll win it‘, because to beat Germany in Dortmund is pretty special,“ Gallagher told the FIFAworldcup.com website.
He revealed that he and his brother Liam are friends of Alessandro Del Piero and the Italy star believed he had brought him luck in the semi-final against Germany – with Gallagher watching from the stands, the Italian came off the bench in extra-time to score his side’s second goal in the 2-0 win.

Ja, und genau darauf hatte ich mich auch schon gefreut. Die B- Seiten der letzten Jahre waren nämlich ähnlich stark wie die 1998 auf „The Masterplan“ kompilierten, das wäre vielleicht wieder grandios geworden. Aber möglicherweise sind ja wenigstens die im Zitat erwähnten B-Sides getrennt auf einer Art Bonus- CD…?

Vor allem hat er ja laut rumgetönt, dass es erst eine Best-of gäbe wenn sich die Band auflöse. Sollte das also ein deutliches Indiz für das Ende der Band sein?

Wenigstens muss ich mir jetzt keine Gedanken mehr über Weihnachtsgeschenke machen. Jeder bekommt ganz missionarisch eine Oasis-Best-of in die Hand gedrückt…
Immerhin kommen wir dann (ich will es zumindest hoffen) in den Genuss des sagenumwobenen Stop The Clocks. Und auf das Tracklisting bin ich schon auch gespannt (zufrieden werde ich eh nicht sein).

The album has come about due to the end of Oasis' recording contract with Sony Music. Noel Gallagher has gone on record before on numerous occasions saying that Oasis wouldn't released a greatest hits album unless the band were about to split up. However, in an interview with news.com.au in December 2005, he hinted that Sony Music were planning to release one anyway, and that despite his misgivings, he would have to get involved with it otherwise it'd be "shit".
