FAVOURITESHighlights von Rolling-Stone.deWerbungTrotz meiner Borniertheit kann auch ich dem ersten Song eine gewisse Eingängigkeit nicht abschreiben, geschrieben hat ihn allerdings ihr Gitarrist Jesse Harris. Ganz interessant finde ich die folgende Rezension aus AMG:
Norah Jones’s debut on Blue Note is a mellow, acoustic pop affair with soul and country overtones, immaculately produced by the great Arif Mardin. (It’s pretty much an open secret that the 22-year-old vocalist and pianist is the daughter of Ravi Shankar.) Jones is not quite a jazz singer, but she is joined by some highly regarded jazz talent: guitarists Adam Levy, Adam Rogers, Tony Scherr, Bill Frisell, and Kevin Breit; drummers Brian Blade, Dan Rieser, and Kenny Wolleson; organist Sam Yahel; accordionist Rob Burger; and violinist Jenny Scheinman. Her regular guitarist and bassist, Jesse Harris and Lee Alexander, respectively, play on every track and also serve as the chief songwriters. Both have a gift for melody, simple yet elegant progressions, and evocative lyrics. (Harris made an intriguing guest appearance on Seamus Blake’s Stranger Things Have Happened.) Jones, for her part, wrote the title track and the pretty but slightly restless „Nightingale.“ She also includes convincing readings of Hank Williams’s „Cold Cold Heart,“ J.D. Loudermilk’s „Turn Me On,“ and Hoagy Carmichael’s „The Nearness of You.“ There’s a touch of Rickie Lee Jones in Jones’s voice, a touch of Bonnie Raitt in the arrangements; her youth and her piano skills could lead one to call her an Alicia Keys for grown-ups. While the mood of this record stagnates after a few songs, it does give a strong indication of Jones‘ alluring talents. — David R. Adler
Mein Problem mit dem Album ist die in der Rezension treffend angemerkte Stagnation, die sich wie ein grauer Schleier über meine Ohren legt. Sie bekam dort aber trotzdem 4 Sterne. Mir ist halt die ganze Rickie Lee Jones auch lieber als nur ein langweiliger Touch. :D

It's too hot in here.ja guck mal da trifft man sich. ich finds album doch auch um einige songs zu lang. dass der song von dem harris geschrieben wurde, habe ich ja bei der grammy-verleihung sehr mitbekommen. ach, was spiele ich mich hier eigentlich als verteidiger auf.
wollte sie doch nur gegen die falschen angriffe in schutz nehmen!! :D--

Subject: How to sell artists & records/CDs
While I was in New Zealand for a month, I couldn’t help but realized one thing.
Since Norah Jones won Grammy Awards, I guess many people on the list are
now familiar with her name and music. Her debut album „Come Away With Me“
was released at the end of February last year. As far as I know, copies of
her CD were conspicuously displayed at the front of all the major CD shops
in Osaka. They even had and still have her posters in their shops. I
assume the situations are just the same in the United States, Canada, U.K.,
other European countries, Australia, etc. Can anybody confirm this? At
the bottom of the eBay site, the cover of her CD often appears.Just about the time of its release, the first track from the album was used
for the theme song of a trendy TV drama in Japan. Only six months after
her debut, one of the two biggest Japanese promoters brought her to Japan
in September.During my stay in New Zealand, I was surprised to see her CDs and posters
treated exactly in the same way there as in Japan. I strongly felt
something big maneuvering her into fame and success. No doubt selling
Norah Jones was a world-wide strategy! And the whole package worked!Kazi

FAVOURITESNorah Jones hat ein wunderschönes Album abgeliefert, das mit der Grammy-Flut eine späte aber gerechte Ehrung erhalten hat. Eine ausführliche Kritik könnt ihr unter folgendem Link nachlesen:

Und nachdem ich jetzt auch Matthias Reichel`s
„Kritik“ gelesen habe, komme ich zu dem Schluss, dass sich das als Werbetext auch nicht schlecht machen würde, man kann die Platte dann praktischerweise auch gleich bei amazon bestellen.--
