Robert Scott’s list of music projects over the years reads like a who’s who of alternative New Zealand music.

From his role as bass-player, song-writer and non-Kilgour in legendary New Zealand noisy jangle-pop pioneers The Clean and as singer, guitarist and songwriter in The Bats, he also helmed the acclaimed Magick Heads, not to mention fronting a bewildering variety of less well-known groups from the long running Electric Blood to the short-lived Gina Rocco & the Rockettes (http://www.powertoolrecords.co.nz/ginarocco.htm)

In turn he has contributed to numerous other Flying Nun groups, while drawing and painting the cover art for many memorable Flying Nun album sleeves. Therefore it seems fitting that his latest solo alum, Ends Run Together, has found its way onto the new Flying Nun Records.

It’s hardly surprising that Robert has found little time to pursue many solo recordings. But songs – lovely, glorious, subtle, mysterious, sad, questioning and perfect songs – pour out of Robert Scott constantly, collected in exercise books and on cassette tapes over the years. Unbelievably, some of those brilliant songs don’t find homes on albums by The Clean or The Bats and Ends Run Together, his third solo album, is a collection of those songs Robert wants the world to hear.

The result is an outstanding album of 13 engaging songs, as likely to appeal to any fan of great alternative pop as much as to those already familiar with his past projects. With Dale Cotton on the production reins, Robert has surrounded himself with a talented community of musicians from his Dunedin home, including fellow Clean-er David Kilgour and even Lesley Paris (Look Blue, Go Purple) has been coaxed back onto the drumkit for some of the songs.

Jam-packed full of pop hooks and intelligent arrangements, Ends Run Together will be released in New Zealand on Flying Nun Records and Australia on Mistletone in September.

Indeed, Flying Nun manager Roger Shepherd said first single; „‘Daylight’ – a driving kraut-post-rock styled masterpiece featuring Lesley Paris on drums – is too good, not to give away”. So we are, and you can grab the free download from here:

Tim Guy:

Tim Guy (dreamy folk pop)
After being born in Australia, and then spending his formative years growing up in Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, Tim Guy is a wanderer at heart. Now residing permanently in Auckland New Zealand, his ever-changing and evolving songwriting style constantly pushes the boundaries of folk music while he keeps the spirit and tradition of the genre close to his heart.

With 3 albums to his name; 2004’s Blazey (produced by Bic Runga), 2007’s self-produced and fast becoming lo-fi classic ‘Hummabyes’ and 2010’s ‘Big World’, a lush production as the antithesis of the previous release, Tim Guy continues to forge ahead as one of the country’s freshest and most talented songwriters. Having toured New Zealand several times his loyal fanbase continues to build as his reputation grows as a charming and consummate performer and entertainer. Following the release of his latest album ‘Big World’ in May 2010, Tim is off to wander again on a tour throughout NZ, Australia and Europe.

“Memorable, compelling melodies…” – NZ Musician
“Gentle mature heavenly pop.” – Elsewhere
“It all sounds effortless and the songs roll along like some kind of blissed out Sunday afternoon.” – Eavesdrop

Bond Street Bridge:
http://www.myspace.com/bondstreetbridge

Bond Street Bridge (cinematic folk noir)

Bond Street Bridge is the solo project of New Zealander Sam Prebble, who has become a fixture of the Auckland indie-folk scene over the past few years, playing mandolin, fiddle and guitar in a wide range of up-and-coming bands.

The live set is a solo show in which Sam uses loop pedals and tape echoes to build up layers of guitar, violin, minimalistic beats and vocals to produce a hypnotic, compelling and original sound. Audiences are drawn in to the strange world Bond Street Bridge conjours up with a combination of evocative, poetic lyrics and sonically lush instrumental arrangements.

In 2008, Bond Street Bridge released his debut album ‘The Mapmakers’ Art’ on Monkey Records, and since then has toured extensively around New Zealand and Australia.
‘The Mapmaker’s Art is one of the finest collections of homegrown music to cross this desk in a while… a joyously cinematic listening experience’ Real Groovey

‘Very different and very good indeed’ Graham Reid (top 40 albums 2008)
‘Darkly beautiful in it’s ingenuity.’ Cheese on Toast
