Onkel TomHarry Chapin läuft in der letzten Zeit öfter bei dir. Jetzt neu oder wiederentdeckt? Und wie findest du ihn?
Anfang des Jahres begegnete ich „The Rock“ – großartige Geschichte, die da erzählt wird. Daraufhin habe ich mir die Studioalben der Siebziger ins Haus geholt, durch die ich mich aber noch durcharbeite.
Generell gefällt er mir gut, der Erzähler mehr noch als der Komponist: Geschichten wie „Bummer“ in seiner versverkleideten Realitätsbeschreibung oder „The Rock“ in seiner Gleichnishaftigkeit zeugen von großer schöpferischer Kraft und virtuoser Könnerschaft als Textdichter. Musikalisch driftet er manchmal ins Kitschige ab – schade.
Onkel TomDie hab ich mir (u.a. durch deine positiven Beiträge) auch zugelegt und bin recht angetan.
Freut mich. Mein Dankeschön geht an Tolo, ohne die diese hörenswerte Platte wohl an mir vorbeigegangen wäre. :sonne: Der Vorgänger wurde übrigens von Fran Healy produziert und lohnt sich auch.
