Lou Gramm macht es einem nicht leicht, ihn zu mögen. Kaum jemand textet öliger – ich sage nur „Angel with a Dirty Face”, oder nenne den Albumtitel (und dann das Foto dazu . . . man, man, man). Musikalisch allerdings schreibt er griffige Rocksongs, und Peter Wolf (ja, der!) hat das Album angenehm krisp produziert. Nichts, was jemals in die vordere Reihe kommt, aber auch kein Fall für E-Bay.

Absolut. Es kommt sehr darauf, wie man sich dem Album nähert. Manche sehen es schon als Zeichen mangelnder Kreativität, wenn man keine eigenen Songs schreibt, und übertragen das gleich auf die vorliegende Platte.
Ich tue das nicht: Für mich sind Cover prinzipiell gleichwertig, die Frage ist, was man daraus macht. Für meine Ohren hat Gabriel eine interessante Mischung aus unbekannten und weniger bekannten Songs gefunden und sie noch interessanter interpretiert. Sicher ****.

Hmmh, da bin ich noch etwas offen. Aber entweder ***1/2 wie bisher oder doch noch einen Halben mehr.
