Hey man, why don't we make a tune... just playin' the melody, not play the solos...dachte ich mir dann auch. sonny criss kannte ich gar nicht. schön relaxter westcoast sound. und powell/byas auch nur durch zufall. ist aber auch ne schöne scheibe. toller sound und grandioses spiel.
übrigens fast alles bei zweitausendeins. bis auf mobley und eben powell/byas.

Danke.Erster Eindruck: Typischer Young-Sound. Leicht aber spannungsreich. Immer in kleinerer Besetzung. So zum Beispiel mit Nat ‚King‘ Cole (1942) oder mit Howard McGhee (1946). Ich liebe seinen Ton und seine Ideen einfach. 40 Stücke cooler Swing. Ein wenig wie seine Sachen mit Billie Holiday nur halt ohne Gesang. Am Ende gibt es allerdings einige Stücke mit der Sängerin Helen Humes, die ja auch bei Basie war. Tolle Platte. Der Sound ist gut. Später mehr.
