Für mich jedenfalls eine der allerbesten!
Harry RagIch kannte das Album bisher noch nicht, bin aber sehr begeistert von dem packenden, tighten Zusammenspiel und den Songs. „The Last Waltz“ und „The Basement Tapes“ waren bisher meine einzigen Erfahrungen mit The Band – und ich liebe dieses Album schon nach dem ersten Hören.
(Mit „The Last Waltz“ tat ich mir immer ein bisschen schwer.)Schön! Das Debut brauchst Du auch noch („Music from Big Pink“), das dritte ist fast genau so gut („Stage Fright“), danach gehen die Meinungen etwas auseinander, aber mir sind die fünf einfach verdammt nah und wichtig – definitiv meine liebste Rock-Gruppe … „Northern Lights – Southern Cross“ ist auf jeden Fall noch hörenswert und die Live-Scheibe „Rock of Ages“ ist auch sehr toll. Am schwächsten ist „Islands“, das nachgereichte letzte Album mit ein paar guten Songs und viel Füllern, dann gibt’s mit „Moondog Matinee“ ein Cover-Album, das üblicherweise abgewatsch wird, aber eine grossartige Version von „Mystery Train“ zu bieten hat, und mir insgesamt recht gut gefällt. Noch besser gefällt mir das ebenfalls oft abgewatsche „Cahoots“, allein die beiden ersten Songs sind unsterblich („Life Is a Carnival“ und Dylans „When I Paint My Masterpiece“), viele sagen, das sei’s auch schon gewesen, aber mir gefällt auch da fast alles … allerdings bin ich klar Partei, wenn’s um The Band geht! (Mein Nick stammt auch aus einem Song von ihnen, dem epischen „Acadian Driftwood“ von „Northern Lights“)

Du wirst es nicht bereuen! Auch die paar Webster Small Group Tracks (einer davon mit Billy Strayhorn!) sind toll, und das Carney-Album sowieso!
