Ich schätze, dass ich vor etwa 30/31 Jahren The Köln Concert gekauft habe.

gut dass du das european quartet aufgewertet hast… belonging ist auch eine meiner lieblingsplatten

Ja, die Platten des European Quartets kamen doch etwas zu schlecht weg, ich habe sie in den vergangen Wochen nochmal wesentlich intensiver gehört und vor allem Sleeper hat mich extrem begeistert. Die habe ich zum Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung völlig übersehen.

Sleeper ist toll, habe ich mir auch zum Hören gleich mal rausgelegt. Wirklich tolles Album. Wie ich magst du „Changeless“ offensichtlich sehr gerne, es ist auch wirklich fantastisch. Ich kann mit deinen Bewertungen viel anfangen, wobei ich meine, dass „Hymnes/Spheres“ zu wohlwollend bewertet ist und das kaum bekannte (für Jarrett) Album „Tribute“ mit **** etwas zu schwach. Vielleicht eine der besten Live-Aufnahmen des Trios, knapp hinter den Blue Note Aufnahmen.

Ingesamt ist Jarretts Musik ein Quell unglaublicher Freude. Ich kann ihn eigentlich immer hören, mache es aber angesichts seiner Brillanz eigentlich viel zu selten.

Sicherlich kein essenzielles Album. Aber als das gehört, was es sein will, ein Folkpop-Album mit zeitverhafteten, kammermusikalisch verbrämten Arrangements, finde ich es sehr hübsch:

Deine Bewertungen machen mir große Lust, mich wieder näher mit Jarrett zu beschäftigen! Insbesondere die American-Quartet-Alben jenseits „The Survivors‘ Suite“ und „Eyes Of The Heart“ müsste ich mal viel intensiver hören.

@nail75: Ich werde mich in den nächsten Tagen nochmal mit „Tribute“ auseinandersetzen, bei der letzten Session habe ich sie ausgeblendet.
@napoleon-dynamite: „Restoration Ruin“ hat durchaus ein paar charmant-naive Momente, mich hat das Album aber immer etwas rätselnd zurückgelassen.

Ausgehend von „Budapest Concert“ höre ich seit einigen Wochen immer wieder die Solo-Piano-Konzerte seit Jarretts Bühnenrückkehr. Eine faszinierende Entwicklung, ich bin gespannt, was noch für Mitschnitte aus diesem Zeitraum veröffentlicht werden.

Mein erstes Gesamtrating von Jarrett hier im Forum … den Schwung der ECM-Umfrage (Neuzuwächse: „Arbour Zena“, „Dark Intervals“) genutzt, um die vorliegenden frühen Aufnahmen plus den Neuzuwachs „El Juicio“ (für meine Ohren von den grossen Atlantic-Sessions von 1971 eindeutig das beste, aber damals erst vier Jahre später als dritte LP mit Aufnahmen dieser Sessions erschienen).
