Dieser ist in Tat sensationell. Die ganze JT-Serie ist ja lecker gemacht und sehr verdienstvoll. Werde ich gerne weiter machen.

So sieht es aus. Vor allem ist es ein bisher unbekanntes Konzert der „SFTW“ Tour aus den USA. Ich hatte ja die Befürchtung, das sie das BBC „Sight And Sound“ Concert draufpacken würden, das gibt es zur Genüge in sehr guter Qualität.

„Old Aces Die Hard“
Was für ein Hammer. Bestes Tull Longtrack Niveau. Der Arbeitstitel lautete: „Dark Ages“, hat aber mit der „Stormwatch“ Version bis auf den Aufbau nichts zu tun. Viel Akustikgitarre, knackige Licks von Martin Barre, Anderson’s typisch knarziger Gesang, sowie viel Kling Klang von David Palmer. Ein Teil der Lyrics wurde später für „Living In These Hard Times“ verwendet.„Working John, Working Joe“
Diese frühe Version kommt rockiger als die Nummer auf „A“. Außerdem fehlt ein zusätzlicher Textvers.„Songs From The Wood“ – Unedited Master
Der erste Textvers wird im Gegensatz zur Original Album Version zum Ende wiederholt. Sonst kein hörbarer Unterschied.„Fire At Midnight“ – Unedited Master
Diese Version hat als Eröffnung einen Drum Break und Martin’s rockige Gitarre, bevor es mit dem Gesang losgeht.--

Das Booklet zeigt David „Dee“ Palmer mit der Speiskelle und Steinen im ländlichen Idyll. Dies sagt alles über die Spielfreude und Brillianz der 77er Tullmanschaft. Die Outtakes sind m.E. komplett albumwürdig und nur Wilson ist es zu verdanken, dass Anderson endlich nachgibt und auch die letzten Stücke freigibt. Ein Freudenfest im Mai!
