redbeans wird mir sicher grad sagen, was ich noch wichtiges vergessen habe…
Es fehlen Basie und Lester Young, von Basie müsste man bestimmt die Live-Aufnahme von CD4 von dieser Columbia Box („America’s Band #1“) haben (die Box lohnt sowieso, selbst für Komplettisten wie mich – auch wenn die Enttäuschung über die 2004 zum Doppeljubiläum [Basie lebte von 1904-1984] NICHT erschienene Complete Columbia Box natürlich noch immer überwiegt).
Von Lester Young gibt es unzählige Live-Aufnahmen, da Pres zu meinen allerliebsten Musikern überhaupt gehört, müssten fast alle davon rein, aber das sind eben keine „Alben“ (ausser vielleicht die 16CD Box „Complete Live and in chronological order“).
Von Coltrane fehlt überdies „Live at Birdland“, denn die zweite Hälfte entstand ja im Studio (die Live-Hälfte ist allerdings grandios, aber ohne „Alabama“ aus dem Studio ist’s kein richtiges Album!).
Auch von Duke Ellington müsste man wohl noch einiges mehr auflisten… da hab ich mal die Top-Favoriten erwähnt.Andere Sachen, die fehlen (etwa die späten Coltrane Live-Aufnahmen, die Live-Aufnahme von Cecil Taylor & Max Roach, oder Louis Armstrongs All Stars) kenne ich noch zu schlecht oder hab ich schon lange nicht mehr gehört, dass ich nichts davon auflisten konnte.

Das hatte ich falsch im Kopf mit Getz… meinte auch diese Session.
Tolliver hat sich primär nur gegen „Grand Max“ durchsetzen müssen, das Mosaic Select habe ich noch nicht angehört.

.Tyler hab ich vergessen – gehört ja eigentlich zum „Wildflowers“ Set.
Von Sam Rivers fehlt auch noch was – „Trio Live“ hab ich noch, aber das ist ja unübersichtlich mit seinen Impulse Live-Aufnahmen (wär das was für ein Mosaic Select? Es soll ja anscheinend keine mehr geben in nächster Zeit, aber rein umfangmässig?)
Baker hab ich bewusst weggelassen, weil ich seine späten Live-Aufnahmen noch nicht kenne – und die mit Twardzik sind zwar sehr schön, aber so ganz zu meinen liebsten zählen sie dann auch innerhalb von Chets Werk nicht… aber ja: ich werde grad die drei mit Russ Freeman ergänzen, die mag ich sehr sehr gerne, die hab ich komplett vergessen!
Anderson und Levitt kenn ich noch nicht, ebensowenig die Giants of the Organ CD.
Byrd, Szabo und Gillespie hab ich bewusst weggelassen (von Gillespie gäb’s noch andere, die ich vor Berlin auflisten würde).
Mongo Santamaria liegt noch ungehört herum… von Cal Tjader gäb’s in diese Richtung vielleicht auch noch was, aber da kenn ich mich noch schlecht aus.
Und Terry Gibbs‘ Dream Band hab ich auch noch weggelassen, weil ich die Fantasy CDs noch viel zu schlecht kenne.
Bei Bird bin ich irgendwie hilflos, da überhaupt auszuwählen – es gibt ja so viel!

Anderson und Levitt kenn ich noch nicht, ebensowenig die Giants of the Organ CD.ist irgendwie vergleichsweise „Easy Listening“-lastig, meine Liste heute…
Anderson ist über jeden Zweifel erhaben; Giants of the Organ Come Together in Concert ist wohl kein großer Jazz, aber manchmal geht kein anderes Album, wer keine Angst vor der geballten Kraft von zwei Orgeln und drei Gitarren hat… (Auszug), das Studio Album der beiden hat vielleicht die geringfügig tollere Besetzung (George Freeman als einer der beiden Gitarristen), aber das hier ist irrwitziger… Dynasty von Stan Getz ist auch ein tolles Live Album…

.Ja, Dynasty (und auch den Griffin Bootleg mit Bennett) habe ich auch kurz überlegt… aber ist dann halt doch nicht so erhaben wie die späten Getz Live-Aufnahmen! Die solltest Du Dir mal anhören… will jetzt nicht mit Chet Bakers späten vergleichen, aber auf eine völlig andere Art ist Getz‘ Spätwerk auch unglaublich faszinierend! Habe da allerdings noch viele Lücken – Getz gehörte ja zu den „guten“, die bei Concord ein Heim fanden… aber das meiste dort ist glaub ich im Studio entstanden, live gab’s was bei Dreyfus (aus Paris, hab ich noch nicht) und dann gab’s die anscheinend nicht wirklich tolle Reunion mit Chet Baker (3CDs, aus Copenhagen, wenn mich nicht alles täuscht – hab ich mich bisher davon ferngehalten, weil’s nicht berauschend klingt, wenn man darüber liest – und irgendwie kann man sich der kargen Chet und den reifen aber immer noch unheimlich virtuosen Getz auch nicht so gut nebeneinander vorstellen… überhaupt, Chet passt doch eigentlich nicht zu Saxophonen… der frühe noch eher, mit Phil Urso oder den Leuten auf den Barclay-Sessions oder Bobby Jaspar, dann noch mit George Coleman… die Riverside-Alben sind ja eher Konzept-Alben um Chet herum, ob’s da mal noch Saxophon gibt oder nicht ist nicht so zentral… Mulligan war die Ausnahme, aber der klingt ja auch äusserst spröde, vielleicht passte das auch deswegen so gut.
Das ist jetzt ein völlig spontan entwickelter Gedanke, der hier auch nicht hingehört, aber ich glaub da ist irgendwie was dran!

Hey man, why don't we make a tune... just playin' the melody, not play the solos...Schöne Liste! Gayles „Touchin‘ On Trane“ muss ich in meiner noch ergänzen, das ist auch eins meiner liebsten… allerdings kenn ich von Gayle nicht sehr viel.
Fehlt Monks „Misterioso“ (das Schwester-Album zu „Thelonious In Action“) bewusst oder ging das vergessen? Ich glaub ich mag’s ein klein wenig besser als „In Action“.

Das ist eine erstaunliche Meinung! Diese Aufnahmen scheint niemand wirklich zu mögen… sie klingen irgendwie… angepisst.
Ich höre sie ab und zu auch ganz gerne, aber in eine Besten-Liste gehören sie definitiv nicht!Von Hubbard vielleicht eher die letztes oder vorletztes Jahr erschienene Blue Note CD im Quartett mit Roland Hanna, oder eine der Left Bank Jazz Sessions mit Jimmy Heath – aber ich bin ja nicht der grösste Fan von ihm.

wie fast immer eine tolle liste von dir atom!
aus dem bauch heraus hab ich ca.2/3 davon auch, wäre aber bei den sternen großzügiger.
mich wundert allerdings das fehlen von John Coltranes „A love Supreme, Live in Antibes“ und das Miles Davis „complete live at the plugged nickel“ so weit hinten ist! hatte ich irgendwie als *****aus einer deiner listen in erinnerung!--
Hat Zappa und Bob Marley noch live erlebt!
