There’s this most excellent footage floating around the ‘net of a John Lennon / Yoko Ono party from 1972 that features Andy Warhol, Phil Spector and Miles Davis. The 16mm color film was shot by filmmaker Jonas Mekas (the date was specifically October 9, 1972). Great. Party footage. Looks like they had fun. Good for them. But what makes this unearthed party film so extra special is that it features Miles Davis and John Lennon shooting hoops. Miles shows up around the 3:00 minute mark (with a very attractive female companion). The quick game of shoot-around starts around 5:00. It’s so surreal, yet completely awesome. This is why YouTube is amazing. I just watched John Lennon and Miles Davis shooting hoops together.

John Lennon meeting Miles Davis during a Garden Party on June 12, 1971 at Allen Klein’s house. I am not sure what Davis and Lennon talked about, but video footage shows that they played a little game of one-on-one basketball (neither of them were very good) with John’s psychedelic Rolls in the background. A wide variety of people were at the party, including Andy Warhol, but Miles Davis was the person that John was photographed the most with that day.
Aktuell gibt es auf der Mediathek von ARTE die Doku „Imagine“ (eine filmische Collage) von und mit Yoko und John Lennon. Da sieht man auch Miles Davis auf der Gartenparty. Das Photo stammt von diesem Tag.

@gypsy-tail-wind Das hört sich so an als ob man ARTE in der Schweiz nicht empfangen kann/darf? Kann Dir den Film gerne zusenden. Dafür bräuchte ich dann Deine Email Adresse oder per PM.
Im TV-Netz ist er schon (ich glaub er war sogar noch in der aussterbenden Kabel-Grundausstattung, als wir die vor einigen Jahren dann auch durch einen digitalen Zugriff ersetzten), aber im Archiv (auch bei +7) sind wohl viele Sachen nur für DE/FR lizenziert. Ich melde mich gleich privat!

Sollte so oder so ca 1970 sein…

Ich tippe mal auf 1989 in Frankreich, obwohl ich auf die Schnelle kein passendes Datum finde – das Roach/Gillespie-Duo-Album, das ich nicht kenne, scheint ein hables Destaster zu sein, entstand am 23. März in Bobigny/Seine-Saint-Denis, Miles war spielte am 12. April im Zénith in Montpelier
