    GONG – „Love From Planet Gong (12CD+DVD) [Sep 2019]

Curated by Steve Hillage and released with the full involvement of original members, legendary psychedelic surrealists Gong are the subject of a new Box Set with the release of Love From Planet Gong: The Virgin Years 1973-75 on September 27th 2019 (UMC) Released to coincide with Gong’s 50th Anniversary, the Box Set covers the band’s classic years in a stunning package that includes: their seminal first four Virgin studio albums plus bonus tracks; previously unreleased, multi-tracked full gigs, the complete John Peel Sessions from 1973 and 1974; previously unreleased quad Pye and Westlake mixes of ‘You’ re-formatted to 5.1 surround-sound, and artwork including rare and previously unseen work by the late Daevid Allen. Under the visionary guidance of Daevid Allen, Gong raised the bar for psychedelic rock in the 1970s. The first three albums Gong recorded for the Virgin label—Flying Teapot, Angel’s Egg & You—introduced the listener to the invisible mythyological universe of Pot Head Pixies, Zero The Hero, The Octave Doctors and The Good Witch Yoni. Featuring sublime virtuoso guitar from Steve Hillage, Gong’s intoxicating, space-rock inflected compositions such as ‘Radio Gnome Invisible’ ‘The Isle Of Everywhere’, ‘Master Builder’, ‘Inner Temple/Outer Temple’ ‘Shamal’, ‘Flying Teapot’ and ‘Oily Way’ are all an absolute joy to experience, re-mastered by original engineer Simon Heyworth and sounding as crisp and inventive as ever. Love From The Planet Gong: The Virgin Years 1973-75 brings together Gong’s finest years in an exceptionally presented Box Set.

    CD1: Flying Teapot + 5 bonus tracks

    CD2: Angel’s Egg + 4 bonus tracks

    CD3: You + 2 bonus tracks

    CD4: Shamal + 3 bonus tracks

    ALLMAN BROTHERS – „Fillmore West ’71 (4CD)

As part of the ongoing celebration of their 50th anniversary, on August 16 the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Recording Company–caretakers of the original band’s unreleased catalog–in conjunction with distributor The Orchard will release a four-CD set titled Fillmore West ’71, culled from an epic weekend of live music recorded at the legendary San Francisco venue. The Grammy-winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band (formed in March 1969) were in great form on this weekend, where they were the middle act playing between headliners Hot Tuna and the 24-piece opener Trinidad Tripoli Street Band. This will be the debut release of these recordings. The packaging contains a front cover photo of Duane Allman from Jim Marshall Photography (taken at these shows) that has rarely been seen before.

Compiled from reel-to-reel soundboard masters, the January 29 show that kicks off this collection reads like an Allman Brothers Band greatest hits, from opener “Statesboro Blues” through the set-wrapping “Whipping Post.” On the next night, the standard sequence of “Statesboro Blues,” Trouble No More,” “Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’” and “Elizabeth Reed” was typically riveting, and then the blues-soaked “Stormy Monday” was worked in, replacing “Midnight Rider.” Gregg’s vocals were visceral and honest, while Duane and Dickey added down and dirty licks. “You Don’t Love Me” showcased some run-and-gun guitar work, and a frenzied “Whipping Post” closed out another solid night. The band–Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Jaimoe, Berry Oakley and Butch Trucks–were loose and talkative and you can hear them really dialing their sound in at what would be a final tune-up for the seminal At Fillmore East album, recorded less than two months later. At Fillmore East would cement the band’s place in rock history and Rolling Stone would eventually call it the second-best live album ever released.

Always acclaimed for their explosive live shows, the ABB really ratcheted up the intensity and focus on January 31 st. After hammering tightly through the reliable first four, the ABB placed “Midnight Rider” back into the rotation, and then Berry Oakley stepped up to the mic for a wicked and nasty take on “Hoochie Coochie Man” with Jaimoe and Butch churning full-bore behind him. After an extensive workout on “You Don’t Love Me” the group worked a relatively new song into the set, “Hot Lanta”.
Conceived out of a loose jam at the Big House in Macon, GA, the band’s home base currently an ABB museum, this group composition was cutting-edge fusion, displaying the delightful musical diversity of
the Allman Brothers Band. A superior “Whipping Post” concludes the Fillmore West material, but Disc Four goes on to include a wonderful bonus track: a March, 1970 version of “Mountain Jam” from the
Warehouse in New Orleans which-at 45 minutes long!-showcases a band that loved to improvise and let the music take on a life of its own.

Kirk West-who served as the “Tour Mystic” and official archivist for the Allman Brothers Band for over 20 years–played a pivotal role in re-acquiring the original live performance two-track, reel-to-reel tapes used for this release from legendary band crew members Twiggs Lyndon, Joe Dan Petty and Mike Callahan, who were the original care takers of these recordings. The tapes had been stored in closets and attics for many years, necessitating careful transfers and several successive attempts at restoration, as technology continued to improve. Interestingly in 1971, however, Kirk was a 20-year-old counterculture entrepreneur who found himself at the Fillmore West during the last four days of January. “I was living in Palo Alto with a bunch of hippie kids who, by and large, were Dead Heads. I had moved to California from Chicago, and I already was a big Allman Brothers fan,” recalls West. “I was insisting that everyone in the house go up to the Fillmore that weekend – ‘Let’s go, let’s go – the Brothers are in town, playing with Hot effin’ Tuna.”

    PRINCE – „The VERSACE Experience (PRELUDE 2 GOLD)“ / „Chaos And Disorder“ / „Emancipation [Sep 2019]

On September 13, The Prince Estate and Legacy Recordings will release the next batch of exciting Prince reissues from his later career: The VERSACE Experience (PRELUDE 2 GOLD), Chaos and Disorder, and Emancipation.

Originally released in July 1996, Chaos and Disorder is a collection of spontaneous and tight playing that reached No. 14 on the U.K. Album Chart and No. 26 stateside, all without promotion. For its new reissue, Chaos and Disorder will be released in a 1-LP configuration on limited-edition purple vinyl and a 1-CD package. This reissue campaign not only brings the CD back on shelves after decades out-of-print, but also marks its debut on purple vinyl.

Just four months after Chaos and Disorder, Prince unleashed Emancipation. The triple album was one of his most ambitious efforts, totaling 36 songs and exactly three hours. “This is my most important record,” Prince revealed to the Minneapolis Star Tribune at the time. “I’m free, and my music is free.” Here, listeners are witness to the breadth of Prince’s influences, moods, and sensibility. As Legacy explains in their press release: “Romance and family are key themes (‘Somebody’s Somebody,’ ‘The Holy River,’ ‘The Love We Make’). Prince reflects on technology (‘My Computer’) and sex (‘In This Bed Eye Scream’), and offers new, upbeat grooves (‘Face Down,’ ‘Jam of The Year’) as well as four unique covers (Bonnie Raitt’s ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me,’ the Thom Bell-composed Philly soul classics ‘Betcha By Golly Wow’ and ‘La, La, La Means I Love U,’ Joan Osborne’s then-current rock hit ‘One Of Us’).” Now, the legendary album will be back in print on CD and available for the first time on vinyl in an elaborate 6-LP set.

Fans of obscure Prince mixes and alternate versions are sure to delight in The VERSACE Experience (PRELUDE 2 GOLD). The collection of rare material was originally pressed up as a limited-edition cassette for Paris Fashion Week attendees in 1995 and featured remixes of then-unreleased tracks from The Gold Experience, alongside special edits and unheard music by The New Power Generation, The NPG Orchestra, and the jazz-fusion side-project Madhouse, all mixed together into a seamless experience. The VERSACE Experience (PRELUDE 2 GOLD) was recently re-released on limited-edition cassette for Record Store Day, but this marks its first wide release on digital, CD, and vinyl.

    https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/poprock/detail/-/art/godley-creme-consequences/hnum/9411267

Wie ich gerade sehe, ist die CD-Box inzwischen auch bei Amazon aufgetaucht, allerdings teuerer als bei JPC:

    https://www.amazon.de/Godley-Creme-Consequences/dp/B07TZXTZP6/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=Godley+%26+Creme+Consequences&qid=1565254151&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Es wundert mich ein wenig, dass dies noch niemand hier vermeldet hat und auch sonst im Netz kein großes Echo zu vernehmen ist.

PENDRAGON – The First 40 Years (5 CD)

A special Collectors Edition Commemorative 40 year anniversary book/cd pack.

The wait is over! Now, just 41 years in the making, “The First 40 Years”  book is ready to pre-order.

It’s taken two years to collate, re-record, mix, find the pics, get new artwork (and a hundred other things) and the time has come to open pre-orders for this very special book/CD set.

So here is what you get – approximately 11inch square (just slightly smaller than a vinyl sleeve) this 32 page hard back book is truly a celebration of Pendragon from 1978 to the current day. Cover artwork from Simon Williams (The World/Window of Life/Masquerade Overture etc) incorporating images throughout the history of the band in his very own recognisable style, inside there is 32 glossy pages of photo memories throughout the years and  a few words from Nick, Peter, Clive and Vinnie and of course 5 CDs.

    The discs are:

    Live at London (CD1 – 3):

3 discs from last November’s sold out 40th Anniversary show at 229 The Venue. The London show featured a return to the Pendragon drum stool for Nigel Harris to perform some of the early songs plus some saxophone from original and co-founding member Julian Baker. When mixing the live discs Karl Groom (Thin Ice Studio) said that this is one of the best recorded live gig atmospheres he’s ever heard, and we think you’ll agree that’s it’s really very special indeed.

    WHITESNAKE – „Slip of the Tongue“ (30th Anniversary Box 6CD + DVD)

Rhino are not going to let a 30th birthday go uncelebrated and have assembled a mammoth 6CD+DVD super deluxe which features “unreleased versions of every album track” as well as monitor mixes, demos, B-sides, alt mixes and nearly two dozen previously unreleased tracks taken from the session tapes.

The super deluxe box also includes a CD of Slip of the Tongue: The Wagging Tongue Edition which was issued exclusively on vinyl in 1989. It features David Coverdale being interviewed about each track followed by the song.

The final CD in the box set features Whitesnake’s headling performance at the Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington. That concert is also included on the DVD along with videos and a few extras. The promos have been restored and remixed in 5.1 surround sound for the first time.

This super deluxe is packaged in a box that looks the same size as the Simple Minds/Tears For Fears reissues and includes a 60-page hardbound book. A double CD deluxe is also available with a selection of the rare tracks and similarly a 2LP vinyl edition features some bonus material as well.
