Ich habe alle From the Vault. Ich kann mich aber nicht an alle Versionen erinnern. Aber wenn du das sagst. Ein Grund mehr, die mir mal wieder vorzuknöpfen. Der Fehler, den ich zu oft mache ist Musik hören und nebenbei etwas anderes tun.

RUSH – „Hemispheres“ (40th Anniversary Edition)
On November 16th, 2018, Rush will release a 40th Anniversary edition of their groundbreaking 1978 album Hemispheres.
“Hemispheres was one of our most challenging and demanding records to make,” says Alex Lifeson. “From its inception in a Wales farmhouse where it was written over a 4 week span,” Lifeson continues, “to the very difficult mixing sessions in two London recording studios, it stands as a key transitional album in Rush’s long recording history.”
Hemispheres 40th Anniversary will be released in three physical formats: Super Deluxe, 2CD Deluxe and 3LP Vinyl.

TANGERINE DREAM
TANGERINE DREAM TO RELEASE CD/BD BOX WITH STEVEN WILSON REMIXES
In what will SURELY be one of 2019’s ‘must have’ reissues will be a Tangerine Dream CD/BD Box with albums remixed and/or remastered by master engineer, Steven Wilson. To date, little is known about this upcoming box other than it’s likely to appear within April of 2019. Even more excellent to the news (and never downplaying other TD eras), these reissues will be for the Virgin Records era. Of those, the possibilities of new remixed albums include thirteen albums released over ten years. Of those, notable inclusions are Phaedra (1974), Rubycon (1975), Ricochet (Live) [1975], Stratosfear (1976), Encore (Live) [1977], Cyclone (1978), and Force Majeure (1979).
Some of these remixed recordings will be presented as new Stereo and 5.1 Surround mixes. Virgin Records will announce all needed info at the turn of the New Year with title, inclusions, artwork, and actual release date.

‚SDE: Talking of your remix work, since you are now very busy with your own albums and touring does this mean you’ll be more selective going forward?
SW: I’m turning down more than I would have done, maybe two or three years ago. I just haven’t got the time. But do you know what? If the right project comes along, I’ll make the time. I’ve just finished work a few months ago on a massive box set for Tangerine Dream and they’re one of my favourite bands of all time, so that was a real labour of love.‘

CAT STEVENS – „BACK TO EARTH“ (diverse Editionen, u.a. 5CD+BD+2LP-Box)
“Cat Stevens super deluxe edition box set” — those are words that for years have been relegated to the “in my wildest dreams” wish list of super fans worldwide. But now, to the surprise of Cat enthusiasts everywhere, those words can soon be placed on your shopping list, as Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens), Cat-O-Log/BMG, and Pledge Music have announced an extensive reissue of his 1978 album Back To Earth. The title will be re-issued in an array of formats and bundles. Standard 1-CD and black vinyl editions are set to arrive on January 25, while a colored vinyl edition, deluxe 2-CD, and super deluxe versions will be available on May 3.
Originally released 40 years ago in December of 1978, Back To Earth found Stevens (who by that point had changed his name to Yusuf Islam, but who was still credited under his former moniker) reuniting with Paul Samwell-Smith, who had produced his legendary early ’70s output. The album also marked the return of collaborators Alun Davies on guitar, who also co-wrote two tracks, and Gerry Conway on drums. Back To Earth was to be the artist’s final pop album before retiring from the music business to focus on his faith, though Yusuf would eventually return to secular music in 2006 with An Other Cup. The resulting collection was largely a return to the acoustic-driven numbers for which Stevens had become popular earlier in the decade. Some songs deal with his retirement from music and his spiritual quests. Meanwhile, “New York Times” and “Randy” have influences from the theatre. Still, many of his evergreen themes — love, youth, and relationships, for example — are all present. And while the album stalled at No. 33 in the charts and the singles didn’t receive much airplay, Back To Earth was a remarkable coda to the classic A&M/Island era.
Next year, Cat-O-Log Records/BMG will celebrate the album with an exhaustive reissue campaign spanning many configurations. Each includes a new remaster of Back To Earth created at Abbey Road from the original master tapes.
Arriving May 3, the mammoth, 8-disc super deluxe 5-CD/2-LP/Blu-ray edition pairs the new remaster with a disc of live tracks and rare demos, including two previously unheard tracks: “Toy Heart” and “Butterfly.” Also included is the previous 2001 remaster of Back To Earth, plus Alpha Omega (A Musical Revelation),a Yusuf-produced 1978 recording by his brother David. The final CD features Stevens’ performance at the 1979 UNICEF Year of the Child benefit concert, which marked his farewell (for several decades, at least) to concert performing. The sixth disc, a Blu-ray, features video footage of the UNICEF Year of the Child performance and a high-resolution version of the remastered Back To Earth album. There’s also an LP of the remaster and a further LP featuring the UNICEF concert. Rounding out the set is a 50-page hardback book and exclusive memorabilia. What’s more, Pledge Music is also offering an array of bundles with the super deluxe, including a 7″ single with the two unheard songs, pins, patches, scarves, shirts, and a signed (or standalone, unsigned) lyric sheet print of “Just Another Night.”
Housed in deluxe packaging, the 2-CD deluxe version will be released on May 3 and boasts the original album remastered, plus a disc of rarities. The standard 1-CD edition, which arrives on January 25, includes just the remaster of Back To Earth and is presented in a vinyl replica sleeve.
On the vinyl front, Cat-O-Log/BMG will issue a standard black LP version on January 25 and a special, rosewood colored vinyl pressing on May 3.

ALPHAVILLE -„Forever Young“ (Super Deluxe Edition)
The album has been remastered (for the first time, apparently) and this package comes with two additional CDs, one with original single versions, B-sides and remixes and the other with 16 original demos. The fourth disc is a DVD which boasts a documentary and promo videos.
This new super deluxe edition also includes the new remaster on vinyl and comes complete with a 24-page vinyl-sized booklet, created by the art director of the original album in close collaboration with the band and contains a variety of rare and unpublished photos, sleeve notes and various other testimony.
This is being issued by Warner Music/Rhino, so the package is likely to be consistent with their Fleetwood Mac / Ramones reissues. A two-CD deluxe edition and single vinyl LP of Forever Young will also be available. All are released on 15 March 2019.

Wer um alles in der Welt kommt auf die Idee, die von Warner verhunzte und gekürzte Version neu aufzulegen und nicht die von Zappa zusammengestellte, verstehe das wer will. (Zappa verließ Warner ja nach diesem Vorfall und sicherte sich bei CBS vollständige künstlerische Freiheit). Hier wäre die Möglichkeit gewesen das original Sequenzing ohne die Overdubs der CD Version wieder herzustellen … schade ein Epic Fail – sechs setzen.

Synthpop legends Heaven 17‘s Virgin Records recordings are brought together in Play To Win: The Virgin Years, a large format 10CD deluxe set which features all five albums issued in the 1980s, along with over 100 bonus tracks, including demos, B-sides, non-album singles and remixes. It will also be released as a 5LP coloured vinyl box set called Play To Win: The Virgin Albums.
The albums in this new deluxe set are Penthouse and Pavement (1981), The Luxury Gap (1983), How Men Are (1984), Pleasure One (1986) and Teddy Bear, Duke & Psycho (1988). Every album has A-sides and B-sides appended and then there’s a whole disc of demos and four further CDs of remixes.
This 10CD box is a large format (12″ x 12″) book style package which includes a 36-page booklet with lyrics, credits, photos and ephemera from the band’s collections, and brand new annotation, based on new interviews with the band.

Ich bin in der aktuellen eclipsed bei den News darüber gestoßen, dass im März 6 Alben der norwegischen Band – nein, nicht zu verwechseln mit RUFUS – wiederveröffentlicht werden. Ich weiß nicht, ob die Band dem einen oder anderen etwas sagt – vielleicht erinnert man sich noch an der Protegierung durch einen Winfrid Trenkler im WDR gerade in seiner Sendung „Rock In“ – aber aus persönlicher Sicht wird damit endlich eine richtige Lücke geschlossen.
Weitere Infos habe ich noch nicht herausgefunden. Es scheint so zu sein, dass das norwegische Karisma Records Label am 8. März mit „New Born Day“ erst einmal das Debutalbum von 1973 reissuet.
