MOTHER’S FINEST – „Love Changes ~ The Anthology 1972-1983“ (2CD) [17.03.2017]

SoulMusic Records is very proud to present “Love Changes – The Anthology, 1972-83,” a first-of-its-kind 2-CD set by Mother’s Finest, considered the premier black rock-and-soul band of the ‘70s and ‘80s. This 37-track collection includes the entire 10-track 1983 LP, “One Mother To Another,” only ever released in Europe and making its worldwide CD debut. In addition, six tracks that were recorded for the group’s first RCA LP (in 1972) and only issued on a now out-of-print US CD in 2010 are also included here along with the team’s four charted singles, recorded for Epic Records during their seven-year tenure with the label, other standouts such as ‘Somebody To Love,’ (produced by Jimmy Iovine) along with ‘U Turn Me On’ and ‘Evolution’ from the 1981 LP, “Iron Age” and key cuts from the group’s three Epic studio albums such as ‘Give You All The Love (Inside Of Me)’ and a cover of the Motown classic, ‘Mickey’s Monkey.’

Formed in 1970 originally by vocalists Glenn Murdock and Joyce Kennedy, the band expanded with a nucleus that included guitarist Gary ‘Mo’ Moore and bassist Jerry ‘Wyzard’ Seay.

Establishing themselves instantly as a multi-racial band that crossed the musical boundaries of rock, pop and R&B, Mother’s Finest were as comfortable on shows with The Who, AC/DC and Black Sabbath as with Parliament/Funkadelic, The Commodores and Ohio Players. The group began achieving chart success in 1976 with ‘Dontcha Wanna Love Me,’ scoring their biggest US pop hit with ‘Baby Love’ and following it with the now-soul classic R&B chartmaker, ‘Love Changes’ (written and produced by Skip Scarborough) in 1978.

Extensive liner notes by renowned US writer A. Scott Galloway including quotes from original members of the group including Glenn, Joyce, Gary and Jerry; and excellent mastering by Nick Robbins.

On February 24, Rhino will put out new editions that will include a standard 1CD set featuring just the original album, a 2CD Deluxe Edition with 13 bonus tracks of outtakes, demos, early versions, instrumentals, and alternate takes, and a massive 3CD/1DVD/1LP Super Deluxe set. As of now, there aren’t any additional information as to the track-list for CD3, or the contents of the DVD. What is available are the tracks from the 2CDs found on the Deluxe Edition. The Super Deluxe set is pricey and will sell at $100USD. I’m going to say though, without doubt, that CD3 will feature a concert from the tour support for Tango In The Night. The DVD will likely featured higher resolution tracks for the remastered Songs.

BAD  COMPANY – „Run With The Pack“ und „Burnin‘ Sky“ (2CD DeLuxe-Edition)

Without rehashing any historic information about Bad Company, which is all stuff fans already know, I’ll just jump to the good things that are coming for Bad Company fans. Not long ago (April 7, 2015), we had several updated remastered and expanded early catalog sets plus a long anticipated (and overdue) official live set. Love those! But now, we have a deep reach into their catalog to have two more classics that will be updated!

On May 26, the UK side of Warner Music will deliver Run With The Pack (1976), and Burnin’ Sky (1977) in freshly remastered 2CD packages along with expanded bonus tracks from the recording periods of both albums. There will be US versions, likely on the same date but the US always hold the cards a bit closer to their chests (I don’t know why).

For the Run With The Pack set, we’ll get the original album remastered on the first disc, with the bonus disc providing fourteen various alternative takes (but no finished outtake tracks). No word on the booklets yet, but if they follow the lead of the first two albums in their 2CD forms, then they’ll be just as awesome. Expect uncovered photos, new notes, memorabilia, and content details.

This is the ultimate. One of the rock masterpieces from Santana, „Lotus“ becomes a Japan exclusive SACD hybrid multi-ch edition (4ch mix). It uses two-layered SACD with DSD 11.2MHz mastering made in 2017.

This is the complete. Seven unreleased tracks, which had been sealed for 44 years long, are included in this set, and finally listed on the original order. BOB MARLEY – „EXOXDUS 40“

Universal will mark the 40th anniversary of Bob Marley and the Wailers‘ Exodus with a comprehensive reissue across three physical formats, including a six-vinyl super deluxe edition.

A core offering across all formats is a disc dubbed ‘The Movement Continues’. Ziggy Marley has revisited the original session recordings, uncovering unused and never-before-heard vocals and instrumentation, and has transforming these various elements into brand-new session takes. This effectively creates a new alternative version of Exodus. This is available on the two-CD, three-CD and the vinyl super deluxe.

Those latter two editions (three-CD and vinyl) also feature Exodus Live a live set recorded at London’s Rainbow Theatre the week of the album’s release on June 3, 1977. Seven of these tracks are previously unreleased.

The super deluxe edition is vinyl-only and includes the album, The Movement Continues, the live set and a fourth 12-inch vinyl, Punky Reggae Party, which includes a previously unreleased extended mix of Keep On Moving. This set also comes with a pair of seven-inch singles– Waiting in Vain b/w Roots and Smile Jamaica (Part One) b/w Smile Jamaica (Part Two). This looks to come with a 12×12-inch booklet and outer slip case.

Exodus 40 will be released on 30 June 2017.

TYGERS OF PAN TANG – The MCA Years (5CD Box Set) [19.05.2017]

Part of the New wave of British Heavy Metal scene, the Tygers of Pan Tang were the first rock band to release a single on Neat Records. The single Don’t Touch Me There was much acclaimed and lead to Neat becoming the home to many legendary rock bands.
