ERIC CLAPTON – „Live In San Diego“ (with Special Guest JJ Cale)(2CD)
On March 15, 2007, Eric Clapton’s world tour stopped at San Diego’s iPayOne Center (originally the San Diego Sports Arena and now the Valley View Casino Center). The band lineup for the tour continues to be a firm fan-favorite, with Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II on guitars, Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon on keyboards, Willie Weeks on bass, Steve Jordan on drums and backing vocalists Michelle John and Sharon White During the set, EC’s long-time musical inspiration, JJ Cale, sat in for five songs, including three from their Grammy-Award winning album, The Road To Escondido, released in 2006.

The 17 disc limited edition box set On (and off) The Road presents a complete overview of the enduringly popular 1980s incarnation of King Crimson.
Featuring a wealth of previously unheard audio and / or upgraded audio from the band’s first to final performances, stereo and 5.1 editions of Discipline, Beat and The Three Of A Perfect Pair, plus video recordings of some of the best live shows the line-up played and substantial new concert footage, all presented to the high standards that have been a staple of King Crimson boxed sets of recent years.

R.E.M. – „Out Of Time“ (2CD /3CD+BD)
R.E.M.’s Out Of Time album came a few years after their Warner Bros Music debut, Green. With it, the band turned into more than the cult band they were previously loved as. To accentuate that transition, R.E.M.’s latest album produced two strong singles, two that are so well known that you’d have to have been asleep back in the early ’90s to not know them. The first was “Losing My Religion”, the second “Shiny Happy People”. The album and its contents won the band seven Grammys with wins for Best Record (“Losing My Religion”), Best Song (“Losing My Religion”), Best Album, and Best Rock Song (“Radio Song”). Out of Time was released in 1991. That makes 2016 the 25th Anniversary of the classic album that pre-dated the incredible Automatic for The People released the following year in 1992.
On November 18, Concord Records will reissue a new remaster of Out Of Time for a 25th Anniversary Edition that will appear in several configurations. There will be a 2CD 25th Anniversary Edition featuring the original album, along with a second CD of 19 bonus tracks (see list below). There is a 3CD/1BD Deluxe 25th Anniversary Edition with an extra added CD that contains the fifteen track Live At Mountain Stage, and a Blu-ray-Audio collection of the original tracks in several variations, as well as Time Piece. For the vinyl aficionados, there will be a 3LP set, and a single original album only LP. The DD versions have already been available for some time.

FlashBackMagazinePETE TOWNSHEND’S DEEP END -„FACE THE FACE“ (DVD, DVD+CD) On 16 September 2016, Eagle Rock Entertainment release the live concert film FACE THE FACE by Pete Townshend’s Deep End as a DVD+CD set [Cat No: EAGDV068]. This is the first official release of the show on either DVD or CD format. FACE THE FACE features Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour on lead guitar throughout and the set includes ‘Face The Face’, ‘Secondhand Love’, ‘Rough Boys’, ‘Slit Skirts’, ‘Give Blood’, ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’, ‘Behind Blue Eyes’, ‘Pinball Wizard’ and more. This show was filmed for the famous German TV series Rockpalast at MIDEM in Cannes on 29 January 1986. Pete Townshend’s Deep End were touring in support of Townshend’s solo concept album WHITE CITY: A NOVEL. Several of the musicians that appeared on the album were featured in the line-up of Deep End including Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour on lead guitar. The set list has tracks from the WHITE CITY album, other Pete Townshend solo tracks, Who classics, David Gilmour’s song ‘Blue Light’ and a couple of surprises. The finely tuned folks over at the Steve Hoffman Forums have uncovered the next Jethro Tull remix as done by Steven Wilson. The selected album is Stand Up, the band’s second album, which was released in 1969. It looks to be quite a rich reissue with plenty of added goodness as we’ve come to expect by Steven Wilson.
On November 18, Stand Up – The Elevated Edition will present with a wealth of bonus goodies that will please fans (see complete list below). Stand Up, under the trusted watch of Steven Wilson will offer the original album remixed, as well as provide higher resolution Stereo remixes, 5.1 Surround mixes in Dolby Digital and DTS. As the mouth-watering track list reveals, there will be a collection of other good things that include Stereo and Mono mixed singles, promo issues, Mono BBC Sessions tracks, a second CD filled with a live show from a January 9, 1969 set, The Stockholm Konserthuset. As if that weren’t enough, there are audio radio spots, and two video footage segments from the Stockholm show.

QUEEN – „Queen On Air“
Queen has enjoyed not only a massive wave of popularity that came after the release of their 4th album, A Night At The Opera, but also a sure sense of immortality as Freddie Mercury achieved a level few vocalists are placed at. After many albums, a handful of strong hits, and and many legendary shows, Queen is an unforgettable name in the annals of Rock and Roll. And of course, they need absolutely no introduction.
On November 4, Hollywood Records will be releasing another in a strong and smooth flowing river of Queen issues over the years. This new set is called Queen On Air, and will house the BBC Recordings of Queen over several formats. Those will include a 2CD set, a 3LP set, a 3CD set, and a possible 6CD complete set.
The 2CD set will feature six BBC sessions. The 3LP set will feature the same, one session per side. The 3CD set will include a performance set from Golder’s Green Hyppodrome in addition to the 2CD BBC Sessions. The 6CD Box, if released, will add, in addition to the 2 CDs of the six sessions, 2 CDs with radio interviews, 1 CD with the Golder’s Green Hyppodrome performance, and another CD with rare and unreleased stuff.
There is also talk of a DVD/Blu-ray set for video of BBC TV appearances including a Boxed set that will bundle in the 3CDs (BBC Sessions, Golder’s Green Hyppodrome show) along with the DVD and BD videos.
The entire flow of information for Queen On Air isn’t completely in just yet. But soon the dust will settle. When it does, I’ll clarify each intended release properly, and strip out the rumored materials if they are excluded.
