Auch wenn man dem ersten Eindruck nach hätte mehr daraus machen können, ist das eine Ankündigung, die mich sehr freut (VÖ: 06. Mai):
BMG are to reissue Scottish post-punk band Associates’ first three albums as two-CD deluxe editions, along with a new double-disc anthology.
Formed in Scotland in 1976 by Billy MacKenzie (vocals) and Alan Rankine (synths / guitars / programming), the pair settled on the name Associates in 1979 after a short period as The Ascorbic Ones and then for a while in 1979 with the moniker Mental Torture. Their debut album The Affectionate Punch was eventually released (on the Fiction label) in August 1980. The following year the band issued six singles (on another label, Situation Two) whose A and B-sides were gathered on the next long-player, compilation Fourth Drawer Down.
The next album Sulk (on yet another label, Beggars Banquet) would be the commercial breakthrough, delivering two top 20 singles in Party Fears Two and Club Country. This would be the last album with founding multi-instrumentalist Alan Rankine.
The new 2016 reissues are curated by Associates bass player Michael Dempsey. These are remastered (from original tapes) with bonus discs full of rarities and some unreleased tracks. The booklets also feature new notes and rare photos. Only Sulk is seeing a vinyl reissue at this stage, and that’s album only without any of the bonus tracks.

A new four-disc box set of Rick Wakeman’s legendary live album, Journey to The Centre Of The Earth will be issued in May…
Originally released on A&M Records in 1974, this new, extended edition features the album remastered at Abbey Road (by Andrew Walter) with an additional previously unheard bonus track The Pearl and Dean Piano Concerto (Royal Festival Hall 1974) and performances of ‘Journey’ Live from Boston (1974), Live In Buenos Aires (1993).
That’s three CDs worth of content, with the fourth disc being a DVD that features a quad surround sound mix and a hi-res stereo mix – both “supervised and approved” by Rick Wakeman.
From the look of the image above, expect a Tears For Fears / Simple Minds-sized super deluxe box. The set features original artwork from Roger Dean, a replica Japanese tour programme and new sleeve notes by Prog mag editor Jerry Ewing who interviewed Rick to get an overview into the album concept and recording.
The 3CD+DVD Journey to the Centre of the Earth box is released on 6 May 2016.

Originally released in June 1974, the album was the band’s first for Polydor records and followed on from four albums recorded for EMI’s Harvest label. The album has now come to be regarded as one of the band’s finest, featuring such classic songs as ‘Child of the Universe’, ‘Crazy City’, ‘For No One’, ‘The Great 1974 Mining Disaster’, ‘Negative Earth’ and more.
“Everyone is Everybody Else” would also introduce the band to a much wider audience both in Britain and abroad and would lead to a highly successful series of albums that continue to endure.
This Deluxe edition includes two CDs and a DVD, and features a new re-master of the original album mix, along with stunning brand new stereo and 5.1 surround mixes of the album (with the exception of ‘For No One’ – omitted due to the multi-track master tapes having long since vanished). Erfreuliche Ankündigung gerade für TD-Fans von CherryRed, alles remastered, aber leider ohne BonusTracks:
NEW REMASTERED CD RELEASE FOR THIS CLASSIC GERMAN AMBIENT / ELECTRONIC ALBUMS FROM 1976 AND 1979 BY TANGERINE DREAM MEMBER PETER BAUMANN /UNAVAILABLE ON CD FOR TWENTY YEARS
Esoteric Recording’s Reactive label is pleased to announce a newly remastered CD release for the seminal German Electronic & Ambient musician Peter Baumann’s debut solo album, “Romance ‘76” and „Trans Harmonic Nights“.
Peter Baumann came to prominence as a key member of TANGERINE DREAM, joining Edgar Froese and Chris Franke in the group in 1971 and making his debut on the album “Zeit”. His contribution was felt on the classic Tangerine Dream albums released by Virgin Records issued between 1974 & 1976, “Phaedra”, “Rubicon”, “Ricochet” and “Stratosphere”. In 1976 he embarked on a solo career with his classic work “Romance ’76”, recorded in July and August that year in Berlin and Munich. The result was a remarkable album that is now held in huge esteem by aficionados of German Electronic Music. His next work as a solo artist was the equally remarkable and ground-breaking album “Trans Harmonic Nights”, recorded in Berlin between July 1978 and January 1979, a release which pre-empted and influenced the protagonists of synthesiser based music that would burst forth in the 1980s.
Unavailable on CD for over twenty years, this Esoteric Recordings reissue is newly re-mastered and restores the original albums artwork and includes a booklet with new essay.

Ja ich weiß, du bellst gern…(btw. how many versions from „exile“ you call your own?)

Kill ´em All

For fans of the Alan Parsons Project, this bit of recently announced news should be enough to complete your week.
Tales Of Mystery and Imagination -Edgar Allan Poe was the first APP set to be released. Then, there was little idea that that debut album would lead to the career that Alan Parsons and his bandmate, Eric Woolfson wold eventually enjoy. This album was released back in 1976. It led the way for the breakthrough I Robot set that followed in 1977. From there, it’s music history.
This summer, Tales Of Mystery And Imagination will be reissued in a big way. The reissue will contain brand new remastering as well a brand new 5.1 mix from Alan Parsons himself. The intended reissue will be primarily a Super Deluxe 40th Anniversary Edition that will include a 4LP vinyl release pressed at 45RPM, 3 CDs, one of which will be chocked full with all new bonus material, AND a BD (Blu-ray) that will contain the previously mentioned new 5.1 surround Sound mix of the classic album.
There is no current release date. But it’s coming. Bet on that!

Alan Parsons has confirmed on that Universal Music will, this summer, reissue the Alan Parsons Project debut, Tales of Mystery and Imagination Edgar Allan Poe, as a 40th anniversary multi-disc box set.
Parsons posted the following message about the 1976 album on his Facebook page:
“Who would have thought I’d be talking about anything I worked on 40 years after it happened? OK. So the Beatles were a part of everyone’s history, but in 2013, when Dark Side Of The Moon had its 40th birthday, I was reminded how important that record would be to my future. It was 3 short years after Dark Side was released that Eric Woolfson (also my manager at the time) and I assembled an album on which the star was intended to be Edgar Allan Poe – I thought I would be a line of small print as producer and co-writer but that changed as the APP identity was born upon the release of Tales. I am proud to be still flying the flag supporting this album in the live arena along with the many more albums that ensued under the banner of The Alan Parsons Project.
It’s a great thrill to tell you that this summer, Universal will be releasing the album in a 40th anniversary multi-disc box set including a 4-sided vinyl set at 45rpm (amazing quality), 3 CDs – one of which is all-new bonus material and a 5.1 surround mix on Blu-ray . The surround version will be a totally new mix which I hope to complete within the next few weeks.“
So reading between the lines, their will be a deluxe 2LP 45 RPM vinyl set as a separate product, and a four-disc box set which comprises 3CD+blu-ray audio (featuring the surround sound mix). A standard 33RPM vinyl LP, a two-CD deluxe and perhaps standalone blu-ray audio are also quite likely formats.
