Fleetwood Mac – Rumours Live
Unreleased 1977 concert on 2CD and 2LP vinyl
A 1977 live performance from Fleetwood Mac is being officially released in September.
Rumours Live captures the energy and excitement of the band’s opening night at The Forum on 29 August 1977. The nearly 90-minute performance includes live versions of most of the songs from the just released Rumours and Fleetwood Mac, the group’s No. 1 album from 1975.
Apart from ‘Gold Dust Woman’ (which appeared on the 2020 deluxe collection Live), nothing from this show has ever been officially released before. Rumours Live will be available as a 2CD set or on a 2LP 180g vinyl gatefold edition (with th lacquers cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering). There’s a limited clear vinyl version of indie retail.
Rumours Live will be issued on 8 September 2023 via Rhino.

XTC’s 1984 album The Big Express will be reissued as a CD+blu-ray edition with new Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo mixes by Steven Wilson.
This is the seventh in the ongoing series of expanded XTC reissues and as with the others it includes a wealth of audio including four album remixes by Wilson (Atmos, 5.1, stereo and instrumental), the whole album in demo form, plus extra demos and bonus tracks.
The Atmos Mix is actually a first for XTC since up until now the surround mixes have been 5.1 only, so that’s good news.

Der 50. Jahrestag der Karriere des Songwriters und Gitarristen JJ Cale wird mit der Veröffentlichung von Tulsa Sound gefeiert, einer 9-LP-Box aus farbigem Vinyl in limitierter Auflage.
Dieses neue Paket bietet Cales erste acht Alben – Naturally, Really, Okie, Troubadour, 5, Shades, Grasshopper und #8 – sowie eine Bonus-LP namens The Early Years, eine Sammlung seiner Singles aus den 1960er Jahren.
Die Aufnahmen wurden in der Abbey Road neu gemastert, und diese Box enthält auch ein 40-seitiges Hardcover-Buch mit einem Vorwort von einem gewissen Mark Knopfler.
Eric Clapton über JJ Cale:
„Einer der wichtigsten Künstler in der Geschichte des Rock, der im Stillen das größte Kapital darstellt, das sein Land je hatte… Seine Platten sind wirklich minimal, leicht, es geht nur um Finesse. Es ist fast so, als würde er dir ins Ohr flüstern, aber du hörst jedes einzelne Wort. Ich weiß nicht, wie er das macht. Es ist so eine raffinierte Technik.“Der bescheidene Cale wuchs in Tulsa auf, daher der „Tulsa Sound“, der ihm zugeschrieben wird. Sein Werk in dieser Vinylbox umfasst den Zeitraum von 1971 bis 1983. Cales Einfluss war enorm, und viele, viele Künstler haben sein Werk gecovert, darunter The Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, Captain Beefheart, Santana, Jerry Garcia und viele mehr.
Tulsa Sound wird am 6. Oktober 2023 über UMR veröffentlicht.

Meine nächste Sendung bei Radio StoneFM am Donnerstag den 19.09.2024 um 22:00: On the Decks Vol. 24: Cover Me #03Auf jeden Fall eine würdige Veröffentlichung, aber die Platten habe ich natürlich schon wie alle anderen darüberhinaus auch. Ich liebe ihn immer noch und das wird auch nicht aufhören. Ich zitiere mich mal selbst, denn das habe ich vor etwas über zehn Jahren mal hier anlässlich seines Todes unter einem anderen Pseudonym geschrieben. Immer wenn ich Cale lausche, muss ich an diesen vernichtenden Satz denken, der mich immer zum Kopfschütteln veranlasst.
„Die Anmaßung von Diedrich Diederichsen, Cale sei der dümmste Rockmusiker der Welt, gehört für mich zu den Tiefpunkten pseudointellektueller Schwätzerei. Die spätere Distanzierung von diesem arroganten Hüftschuss fiel sehr pflichtschuldig und wenig überzeugend aus. Man hätte Cale mehr Anerkennung bei einem größeren Publikum gegönnt. Er selbst war nach allem, was man so hörte, zufrieden. Ich werde ihn und seinen Sound, seine Haltung und seine Stimme vermissen. Aber da sind ja noch seine Platten!“
