DELUXE BOX SET COMPILING FIVE ALBUMS, SINGLES, B-SIDES, LIVE RECORDINGS, REMIXES, COMPILATION APPEARANCES AND VINYL-ONLY RARITIES.

112 TRACKS SPANNING THE BAND’S ELEVEN YEAR SPELL WITH WEA, INCLUDING MANY NEVER BEFORE ISSUED ON CD.

FEATURING THE HITS ‘SOMEWHERE IN MY HEART’, ‘GOOD MORNING BRITAIN’, ‘DEEP & WIDE & TALL’, ‘ALL I NEED IS EVERYTHING’, AND MORE, ALONGSIDE LIVE RENDITIONS OF THE BAND’S PRE-WEA HIGHLIGHTS.

INCLUDING COLLABORATIONS WITH JOE STRUMMER, EDWYN COLLINS, RYUICHI SAKAMOTO (YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA) AND MARK KNOPFLER.

INCLUDES PROMOTIONAL RELEASE ONLY MATERIAL, THE ENTIRE LIVE AT RONNIE SCOTT’S RECORDING AND A VINYL ONLY INTERVIEW WITH AZTEC CAMERA FOUNDER AND MAINSTAY RODDY FRAME.

Led by frontman and master songwriter Roddy Frame, Aztec Camera successfully turned indie- darling status into mainstream success when they signed with WEA in 1984. Taking inspiration from his own record collection, Frame set about recording a series of style-hopping albums, collaborating with his personal wish list of musical inspirations and producing a remarkable run of emotive, honest songs to rival any of his contemporaries. Admired and adored in equal measure, Roddy remains one of Scotland’s most gifted musical treasures.

‘Backwards And Forwards’ showcases the five albums, multiple hit singles and contemporary remixes, live recordings and alternative versions accumulated by Aztec Camera during that period, a time which saw the band tour the world and achieve success wherever songwriting class is recognised and appreciated. Bursting with expertly crafted songs and melodies, and always produced with an accessible sheen, this is the sound of a musical magpie taking every opportunity offered to him, at a time when the music business encouraged genius and applauded eclecticism.

THE ART OF NOISE – „Noise in the City: Live in Tokyo, 1986 (Formate: CD, 2LP) [VÖ: 06.08.2021]

Noise in the City: Live in Tokyo, 1986 is previously unreleased complete Art of Noise concert, recorded in August 1986, at Tokyo’s Nihon Seinenkan.

The album includes tracks such as ‚Close to (The Edit)‘, ‚Moments in Love‘, ‚Beatbox‘, ‚Peter Gunn‘, ‚Legs‘, ‚Paranoimia‘ and ‚Eye Of A Needle‘. On stage are Anne Dudley and JJ Jeczalik with Dave Bronze on bass, Simon Moreton on percussion, Paul Robinson on drums, and The Noisettes (Katie Humble, Pepe Lemer, and Linda Taylor) on vocals.

This album was made possible when Art of Noise members Dudley, JJ, and Gary Langan returned to Tokyo for live dates in 2017. They found that the concert was recorded for FM radio broadcast and Ian Peel (who writes the liner notes for this release), tracked down the original multi-track master tapes to a vault in London.

The recordings were newly mixed this year by Gary Langan.

    TrackList:

    1.Intro – Peter Gunn

    2.Close (to the Edit)

    3.Paranoimia

    4.Eye of a Needle

    5.Legs

    Bonus: nichts, kein einziger Bonus-Track

    EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER – „Out Of This World: Live (1970-1997) [7CD bzw. 5DLP]

In celebration of 50 years, BMG will release a concentrated celebratory collection of live shows with the original ELP lineup. The shows range from 1970 through 1997, with one show a previously unreleased performance (the Union Hall show in Phoenix, AZ on September 23, 1997). The Boxed collection of five live shows deemed highly representative of the band’s peak will be called Emerson, Lake & Palmer – Out Of This World: Live (1970-1997). These box sets are scheduled for October 29.

Out Of This World: Live (1970-1997) will be issued in two sets – a 7CD Box, and a 10LP Box. Both sets will contain a 32-page glossy photobook with expansive notes and photos. All the shows feature new remastering for the best quality sound. Each LP is packaged as 2LP gatefold sets with flashy artwork to represent each set.

    AFFINITY – „Affinity“ (4CD Remastered & Expanded Box Set) [VÖ: 24.09.2021]

    • A DELUXE FOUR DISC REMASTERED AND EXPANDED CLAMSHELL BOXED SET EDITION OF THE CLASSIC PROGRESSIVE/JAZZ ROCK MASTERPIECE FROM 1970
    • FEATURING AN ADDITIONAL THREE CDs OF RECORDINGS DATING BACK TO THE BAND’S ORIGINS IN 1965, THROUGH TO THEIR FINAL RECORDINGS IN 1971 AND 1972
    • COMPILED BY MO FOSTER IT INCLUDES AN ILLUSTRATED BOOK WITH HIS LINER NOTES

A new expanded, remastered four CD clamshell boxed set by the legendary progress/jazz rock group, Affinity.

The band’s origins go back to 1965 at the University of Sussex in Brighton when Lynton Naiff (keyboards), Grant Serpell (drums), and Nick Nicholas (double bass) formed the US Jazz Trio to perform at University events and local gigs. When Serpell graduated a year later he was replaced by Mo Foster who had earlier been playing bass guitar in his school band but had now switched to drums.

In 1968, Naiff, Serpell and Foster recruited Mike Jopp on guitar and the outstanding vocalist Linda Hoyle to form Affinity. The band made their live debut in October 1968 and soon appeared on the BBC radio show Jazz Club. Legendary saxophonist and club owner Ronnie Scott heard a recording of this performance and subsequently agreed to manage them and give them regular bookings at his world-famous jazz club.

Affinity soon began to attract a lot of favourable media attention and signed to the newly formed Vertigo label in 1969. Their eponymous debut album, produced by John Anthony, appeared in 1970. Thanks to outstanding tracks such as ‘Three Sisters’, ‘Night Flight’ and imaginative covers of Bob Dylan’s ‘All Along The Watchtower’ and Alan Hull’s ‘I Am And So Are You’ (featuring a brass arrangement by Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones), Affinity received excellent reviews, with the Sunday Times praising the playing of organist Lynton Naiff and vocalist Linda Hoyle.
